Huh? MB owns AMG. AMG is the in house tuner. AMG does their own things but it's not like MB is left out of the loop as far as what AMG does to the cars.

Why does BMW need M? Why does Audi need quattro?

I would suggest the OP checks out the AMG website, and surf around the history and timeline pages of the AMG company pre-MB and post-MB.
MB and AMG are symbiotic and have since been for over 40 years.

Actually, the name of the performance house for Audi is "Quattro Gmbh"; which produces the S and RS models for Audi.

Actually AsianML's earlier post has the accurate spelling: quattro GmbH. Only the "G" and "H" in caps. Kind of like Mercedes "designo" customizing division. A capital D is as bad a faux pas as pronouncing it "design-oh" or "de-zig-no." (It's "de-zeen-yo.")

Actually, both AsianML and I have "spelled" quattro GmbH the same.

I, however, did not capitalize the letter "H" as he did. That is not considered a spelling error, my astute master of the English language.

When I wanted to buy a c43 I looked up some reviews which some said "Mercedes has AMG, which stands for Aufrecht Melcher Grosspach, a kind of anagram representing the two ex-Mercedes employees who formed the company and the town where it’s located."

SO, I thought amg was seperate and mb had to send their cars to these 2 guys to modify their cars. Later they hired more people and did more work for MB. That is what I had read so that is why I wrote what I did.

Now take a chill pill people and go relax. Share your knowledge, dont flaunt it! There's always someone smarter than you.

As to what to technically call lower-case-abuse, "spelling" is usually the word we use to convey orthographic configuration. While strictly speaking there are many components of orthography, we often lump them together as spelling for non-technical conversation.
