turn signal bulb

I feel like a retard, but I have been f**king with my driver side turn signal bulb for the better part of 20 minutes trying to get it out of its housing (to replace it) w/ no luck. Is there a secret to this? The glass portion of the bulb already separated from the metal contact portion of the bulb, and it seems that it is super corroded or I'm just trying to remove it wrong. Help?

uggg....the piece of crap finally popped out. So the blinker appears to be working, but the entire L/driver side blinker circuit blinks at double speed now. What is causing this? Relay problem? Notably I bought the replacement bulb at Oreilly's and it is clear unlike the OEM bulbs which have an orange tint to them. Not sure if this would make any difference, in terms of voltage/loading, etc.

Box says 2357 so I guess that is probably the smoking gun right there. I knew I should have looked it up for myself, and not left it to the guys in the store. Not to mention that the dude gave me an unsolicited pitch about why I shouldn't buy Chevron/Techron fuel cleaner because "it is like taking a big dump in your gas tank". He definitely had the treat an MB owner like he is a moron attitude.....which in hindsight maybe I am

Glad I kept the receipt

most bulbs

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...g-tip-day.html
turn signals have that offset bayonet fitting I think on your model. If you want to trick it out
www.danielsternlighting.com
has the dual diadem bulbs that look chrome until you turn on the directionals and then they flash the proper color. Also has the 65watt h7 rally bulbs for the headlights.Much brighter.
On the other subject techron or seafoam brand(my choice seafoam)is fine in your fuel tank yearly.Only in the gas not in the oil.Guy at the store had crap for brains, you do or will know way more about your benz then he will ever.

whats wrong with chevron? i have personally seen the cleaning power of chevron fuel. boroscope in my motor before and after 500 miles of hard driving with exclusively chevron gas cleaned out alot of sediment on and around my piston heads.

Yeah he had nothing to back up his claims......oh well, another Pep Boys/Oreillys/Autozone master mechanic at work

And I have been using exclusively Chevron gas and products in my tank for almost 10 years (and 4 different cars) and have never had a single problem until now, so I would say they make a good product.

Hmmm....so I just checked my owner's manual, and it appears that the bulb is a 2357, which is the same type that the guy sold me over at Oreilly's. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? If it is the correct bulb, I wonder what the problem is.....

Oh

front turn signal 2357A bulb.
check for corrosion in the socket.
sometimes a poor ground will make them blink fast like a bulb is out.

Yeah, the amber part would account for the extra brightness/whiteness of the new bulb. As for corrosion, the old bulb was nearly impossible to get out of the housing (basically had to break it, crush it down and pry it out with pliers). That said, there is no visible corrosion on the leads.....just the metal surround that the bulb sits it.....and I don't really remember seeing any corrosion in that either, mostly just on the old bulb. Anyway, I'll take another look at it, thanks!

Try a dab of vaseline at the base to prevent "seizing" .
