I dunno about this
cant you paint it black, how much weight did you lose?
if not much Id just install the old one back
plus I heard those arent that safe, they come of when you drive really fast lol

That is correct. At 120mph I had about a 1-1/2" flex in mine which led to a crack of about 1" on the drivers side.It would need more structural support for me to feel confident about leaving it on.

The hood shocks (at least on mine) are too strong for a carbon fiber hood and are not needed for such a light hood anyway. With the shocks on, it was bowing out my hood so I removed them.
The W208 has latch's on both sides and the security latch in the center, so its a fairly safe arrangement that does not necessarily mandate the use of hood pins.
From my research, VIS does not have the problem of the carbon fiber seperating from the fiberglass shell like other cheap CF hoods.

You said you bought it in San Bruno, did you happen to get it from a guy named wayne? He has a shop in San Bruno called Technic Auto, I know he had a W202 carbon fiber hood sitting in his shop for a long time.
Just a warning to you guys that have VIS carbon fiber hoods, the clearcoats on those do peel easily when exposed to alot of sun so try to keep your cars in a garage or under a shady tree.
I had a co-worker with a VIS carbon hood on his nissan and it started peeling in a few months from light exposure to the sun.

actualy the hood is great and the surface is a little rough, but no peels. i did get it in san bruno, but not from a guy named wayne, an asian guy. letting the hood for for 150 if you would like the hood silence i would be happy to give it to you.

If it fits as well as it seems to I will give you the $ you paid and take care of shipping (if you can package it up properly etc. etc. + i'll even give you like 50 for packaging materialss)
going to need to see a bunch of pictures etc. of it though- although i do trust ya.
I will do a bit of custom work on it (i need some extra airflow) and end up with it on the car painted silver.
pm me

nice fit... I don't have the pins but my hood seem to bubble... it doesn't fit snug. I kinda looks like it bulges on the sides. did you guys use the stock hood shocks?

well the latch for the hood is ok, but don't drive to fast, the reason for those hooks is that the hood is too light...so it might fly off, when going fast

I dont get it...why put on a cf hood and can't drive fast with it?

well- because it was easier to modify and let me keep a pristine stock hood to swap back to if i want. i added bracing and have no intension of it changing my driving habits. it only saves ten-twenty lbs, so no real performance gain.

none
I had one from eurbuni(sp??) and it fit terrible. The sides were shaped like a canoe. The framing had to be cut bent and braced to get it to straighten out and line up with the fenders. Once it was all lined up and perfect I decided that I didn't want CF so I ditched it. The OEM hood was surprisingly light so I was happy to put it back on. If I was to hack it up I would do the same as drew, and hack a non OEM hood.
