humming noise on idle, little shaking too?

Helle guys, been a long time. I just started to hear this small humming noise while at red light in gear... When I put the gear in P it goes away, engine wasn't as warm as it shoud be I guess....
I might just be extra **** about this, butI really do not remember this humming noise while stopped in traffic, or red light. Maybe my perception changed too. Maybe it is totally normal.

Anyone experienced a thing like this lately? It just started with cold weather, but again it might just be a coincidence. Should I get the muffler checked maybe?

Any help is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you
Buddy

I get some vibration when I am in drive and sitting still as well. I believe that mine is motor mounts. I'm going to look over mine this weekend and I'm also planning to take it in for some other issues and have them diagnose the vibration as well. If that sounds similar to what you are seeing, that could be your cause.

Loooong years ago, i was able to change the motor mounts on my Audi 4000 or 5000 or whatever

I hope someone has done it with good directions, or photos. Hopefully it is an easy fix. I have no other problems at all with this C43.. Still loving it everyday

Sounds likely....

From what you are describing it is most likely your engine mounts. I swapped mine out when my starter was giving me problems.

As usual, I purchased ALL my parts from autohausaz.com - ensure you buy the new bolts too, you may slightly strip them in the initial removal so it's nice to have brand new ones for the new mounts.

When you jack up the car and remove the plastic cover, I used a wide 6" by 6" piece of wood on top of the jack. You'll need to support that engine once all the mounts are all loose. Note: You'll be jacking it up on the bottom of the oil sump pan which is reinforced, but if you jack it up without a board to distribute the load you'll go right through it see asterisk location below (that is cast aluminum).

Again not a tough job but get everything first - you'll need the typically MB-used reverse torx type sockets so if you don't have 'em, go get them...

I've noticed the same thing, mainly when it's colder outside and the drivetrain isn't fully warmed up. Smooths right out if I pop it in N. I figured it was just the cold transmission fluid putting a heavier load on the engine when idling. (that stuff turns to syrup when it's cold...) Once everything warms up it pretty much goes away.

My guess is engine mounts. I just had my engine mounts replaced, shaking = gone. While it shakes, people in the car just think I have an extra 200 horsepower or so... hahaha
