im wondering if any companys make sway bars for the c43? im looking to reduce some of the body roll in the corners...also im on eibach springs...would there be a big difference if i went to h&r springs?

You already have stiffer sway bars than regular W202's. H&R is about the same as Eibach. The only thing I can think of is this.

It should do something. The only other option is maybe an H&R Cup kit. The lower sway bar keeps the lower part of the suspension in place and this is supposed to keep the upper part in place.

Strut Braces don't serve any purpose on a W202. First off the cars dont' have struts. They have upper and lower control arms, with a seperate spring and shock. The location of the springs are pretty low in the body and are mounted off of the frame rail and the inner fender well. For a strut brace to serve any purpose the load carrying part of the body needs to be at the top of the fenderwell where some flex could happen, as in a strut type suspension where the upper mounting point of the spring is located. The only way you could reduce some body flex would be to make the upper spring mount stiffer on the W202 by added a second brace that would come off the inner fender well and brace the upper spring mount from the top.

Here is the theory as to how strut braces work: http://www.e30m3performance.com/myth...bar_theory.htm

If you want to reduce understeer, one of the easiest ways is to eliminate the Tire Stagger. Get another set of wheels that are either 8.0 or 8.5 wide and use 245/40 17 front and rear.

Not to mention, those Weichers "strut braces" just attach to the sheet metal in the engine compartment using some of the electrical accessory attaching studs, and nutserts.

Imagine all the force those are going to take!

Good point scorchie! After reading Mercedes Tuner's physics project and realizing where this strut brace attaches to, I would imagine this would do more harm than good.

Mercedes Tuner: Where can we get the braces you're talking about? Why aren't there any Bilstien Sport shocks for the C43? What's so different in the suspension between the Mercedes sedan and the AMG cars?

u should be able to use them...perhaps they were simply not entered. i thought mb used bilstein as oem suppliers...anybody wanna back me up? amg did some tuning and made the shocks on the c36 "degressive" to take the harsh impact of potholes and stuff out..

i know JamE55 has some bilsteins before he switched (forgot to which, think it was kleeman)...bilsteins r not listed on their website for e55 either

The braces would need to be custom made. As far as I know there aren't any that are made like what I am talking about. I am only mentioning it due to how the upper spring mounts are on the W202. The mounts come up off the frame rail and hold the force of the spring from the bottom. If there was a second brace that came from above it, there is the possibility that it could make a difference. How much or if any I don't know?

There are Bilstein Sport Shocks Available! A friend of mine has them on his C55

As far as the Suspension goes, The Upper Control Arm, Lower Control Arm, Spindle, Springs, Shocks, and Sway Bars all have different Part #'s from the standard W202. The Upper Control Arms are from a W210 and have a different type of bushings. The Lower Control Arms have different bushings in them. The spindles have a different part # but I'm not sure of the exact difference. The Spring rates are Stiffer on the AMG's and the Shock Rates need to be stiffer to compensate for the Stiffer Springs. The sway bars are larger to reduce body roll.

All these parts are transferable from one model to the next.

So you're saying I can use a C43 Sway bar on my C280?

Yep, all you would need is the sway bar bushings to go with them. Since the bar is larger the stock bushings won't fit over the bar.

Euro:

I know H&R is working on anti-sway bars, but they dont list applications on their site yet. It's worth a shot though.

Eibach has a set of sway bars for the W202, I'm not sure of the size of the bars, but I know they sell for about $500 for the set.

Read the the post earlier in this thread about strut bars (tower braces). They don't do anything for the car. Tighter springs will help drastically.

They're 28mm/18mm, but I think the back has spherical rod ends so that its action is used more efficiently.

I believe they are under $450 from TireRack.
