What color to powdercoat wheels..losing sleep
Dropped the wheels of yesterday and need to order the color today...the wheels are renntech monolites in my pic below. I went in with the idea of black, silver, or gunnmetal. I think I've ruled out the black for now, but I'm hung up on which silver.
Dark silver/pewter gunmetal-ish color???
or
Bright silver similiar to any OEM wheel??
The other issue was what texture, it was explained that the rougher textures are more durable which makes sense. I like the look of both. The regular finish would be semi-gloss and smooth, where the texture would be a very subtle like a cast aluminum piece.
So smooth and a little shiny?
or
More matte and rugged?
this isn't really fun anymore....he had about 1000 color swatches....

Since you're asking - I had my wheels done in a silver (leaning towards a gun metal color, i.e. darker) I went shiny as a practical matter, matte colors over time tend to get porous and tougher to clean...
Out of curiosity, what is he charging you if you don't mind my asking....

Staple: for a single stage color they charge $100 a wheel stripped and coated.
Can't really do any polishing unless I have them go to two different people which I don't have the time for. I'm thinking the darker silver is feeling right to me. The bronze thing I've never seen.. I'll have to look it up.
Thanks guys.

Got them back, aside from the moron who mounted 2 of my directional tires backwards all is well. The powdercoat color is pewter bronze II. Its a crappy cellphone pic so the color is a slightly textured semi-matte gunmetal-ish. Very hard to notice in person but it has a slight metallic that looks great.
Goodhues Powdercoating in Derry, NH 03038. Quality was honestly 8/10. They lost a very specific piece to my valve stems and the spray was a little light in two areas that should have never left the shop like that. I don't see anyone noticing though. All in all they are good
