lots of cars
So after some thoughts I came to these conclusions...

1. I need to have a baseline on how much the front and rear actually moves with the suspension loaded and if the bar will be an improvement. The way the front suspension is on a w202 i don't see much benefit from having a front strut bar. On a w124 it's a different story because it actually uses a strut not a shock. Most mercedes with a macpherson suspension would benfit from a front brace.

2. Swaybars? I think I should invest in these first and take more measurements. I was also thinking of solid end links for the rear.

3. The strut bars can't be adjustable and will need to be bolted on, if not welded.

I leave a lot of details out when I post online so it seems like i don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just lazy and I don't like to get into pissing contest. It's my car and it doesn't really matter if it works or not. This is a project for the times when I have nothing to do. It keeps me busy trying to figure out stuff and so far it hasn't been expensive.

No, I am the speedybenz guy. I have been making camber arms for W202 and for every other MB except the airmatic suspension cars since 2003. I have a website you can go to, to find out more about me. Just type in the www ahead on speedybenz and add the .com.

I really like the cars and have done a bunch of stuff over the years. I have a small lathe I make up parts on and have a small mill to make others.

Like I said I have made everything on my car and even developed the Penske shocks from scatch. Took about 4 tries to get the valving right. But now that it is the car really is fast around a corner. The swaybars also made a big change and helped tie everything together.

One of the neatest things I have built is independant spring perches for each corner of the car. It allows me to run a standard 2.5" diameter coilover spring on each corner and using a weight jacker bolt to set ride heights in just a few minutes. The link below will tkae you to pics of a suspension kit I built for another member.

Thanks for posting speedy At least now I know i'm not going crazy.

Another Idea I have is installing air shocks to lower and raise the car. The problem has been the width and lenght. They just don't fit and are too wide on the rear. I might try the front first and see how it works out. I wish I had the tools and the space to come up with stuff like that. Yeah I know they leak after a while but i'm trying to do all this and make it affordable enough that it's cheap to replace. It all comes down to measurements either for the strut brace or the shocks.

I confirm, I ordered and got them. They are very GOOD LOOKING STUFF
Havn't yet fitted them as my trusted mechanic is in vacation and I'm leaving on vacation next week-end. He will be doing the suspension alignment after I install them, so that looks like it's going to be in July

Some modification may have to be done. I don't have much info as they were tucked away in our warehouse. Ill take a few few quick pics of the ends and their hinges it may answer some of your questions as far as clearance issues.

1995 C 36 AMG; 1992 W124 300E (M103 Ex Mosselman TT KIT) was 320hp @10psi now stock :(
some say that since the w202 front is not held by strut type shocks a strut bar wont help! But note that the upper control arm still bolts to the front towers and under load will still movee the towers.
As for the rear subframe well merc designed it to be a flexible frame and all u need is to watch some few youtubevids of the w124 development and u will see how much the frame twists. It twist so much that on my 124 with the brabus springs and our tough roads it cracked in 3 places. Find a way to tie the frame up and better handling will be found along with reduced ride quality thou.

So, looks like the sub frame is a weak point which can hinder rear suspension tuning. Any way of getting the frame more rigid? Solid bolting would probably not be recomended. What about stiffer mounting blocks?

Anything you can do to stiffen the chassis is a good thing. In terms of trying to dial in the handling, you can play with suspension all day, but if you have a lot of chassis flex, you'll probably never get where you want to be. Anything you can do to box in the chassis should result in improved chassis stiffness.

OK, but what do you suggest in the way of good stiffer mounting blocks? Any OE MB stuff available?
