Air intake pipe for a c36

Any ideas where you can find an original or reproduction crossover pipe for a c36? The one with the 3.6 on it?

Hmm I might know someone who is working on reproduction crossovers.....won't be till the summer though need to finish up the molds I have started now. Stealer, ebay, or a lucky nab on the forums is the best bet. Not the kinda thing you'll see laying around the junkyard. Good Luck

OH YEAH..... DUH. Why not upgrade and go with the quality pipes that apputulla will be producing. Sounds like you will need to wait but it will be worth it as appatulla's work looks exquisite. Check out his posts on lamination. Makes me wish I had a crossover pipe on my C43 .

What about the engine cover for the C43, do you think you could laminate that or would it not hold up with the heat?

yes yes we are talking about the same thing. I was unaware they made such a thing but I can only imagine it would be an arm and a leg.

Still available.

Thanks for the input. You can still purchase the original C36 crossover pipe for $600 from Mercedes Germany.

Ben this is a little bit directed toward you because you have a 95, but which intake pipe do you have? Anyone else with a 95 is welcome to share.

I thought i was unfairly stuck with the flat crossover pipe standard on the C280. The other day, i called my dealer and they told me they couldn't confirm it, but the computer wasnt saying that the fat, "36" pipe wasn't compatible with my car, and the flat one was. They said this was probably due to one of Mercedes' sneaky middle-of-the-model-year switch this part.
Do others with a 95 have the 36 one, or the flat one??

I do indeed have the "3.6" crossover pipe. Here's a pic of my bay just for fun:

What is the PN on your intake manifold?

I will check on that later, I'm pretty sure it will physically fit, i think it just wasn't in their system for my vin/year. Also do you know where the pn. is on it? For now though, what month was yours made in? Also do you have the amber corners, or do you just like em?

Nice carbon fibre on the engine there too

If you look here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...molding-3.html Jay explains the issue at hand, Paul had a similar issue but like you said it may actually be correct and just was not offered yet. PN: 104 140 39 01. Should be right on the intake manifold runner closest to you when looking from the front if I remember correctly. I'll dig up my paperwork tonight to try and see if I can find my VIN decoder printout. No euro amber corners on mine...yet, just the stock USA amber style corners, personally not a fan of clear. Will be trolling .de and co.uk soon though.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the carbon fiber cover, I just finished the mold for them and will soon be vacuum bagging more fabric . Also, you may not have noticed that the engine emblem in the pic is cast aluminum. I made these as the plastic emblems tend to become brittle, flake and ultimatley self destruct over time.

Yup, same part number. weird. There were other numbers under that too. Would those tell us anything? So yours has been on there since 95 huh. Odd. What month was yours manufactured in?

Cool. Yea I read the whole thread on that, and seeing as mine is totally gone, i will add that to my 'cart'. I'm still waiting to fork over a couple salaries to you for some cool cf parts :P
