Well, in our part of the world, anything which doesn't have a German TÜV certificate or is not fitted on another MB is a no-no. Getting caught can get you a rather stiff fine and obligation to return to previous set-up or one which is homologated in order to keep your vehicle road registered. Getting something homologated on an individual basis is a VERY expensive procedure

$1,200 for the supersprint center and rear isn't a bad deal. I would assume it bolts right up to the stock cat piping. Then with a little bit of exhaust shop work you could chop the cat and have a nice deal from the header's back into the center. O2 defoulers and your ready to go if you decide to go catless.

+100 for Marcus's stainless headers recommendation sooo prettyyyyyy makes me want to get on that tig and practice some more!

You mean this??? :
Muffler w/ Oval Tips

Price: $759.24
All Supersprint mufflers are of the flow through resonated design. This means each unit has no chambers or baffles to reduce velocity. Simply, a straight through in & out design. (more info)

Resonator

Price: $499.58
All Supersprint resonators are of the flow through resonated design. This means each unit has no chambers or baffles to reduce velocity. Simply, a straight through in & out design! (more info)

Yep thats it, supersprint is good stuff. Pricey but good stuff. Considering what OEM stuff runs pricey is a relative term if your not into migging or tigging together a transistion with a j pipe to fit a universal muffler in.

I think he went with a magnaflow, ProjC55 knows his stuff. However, I had one on my W124, dual tip stainless. Looked hella sweet but was just AWFUL in the music department, the highway drone was terrible and it sounded tinny. It was a "straight through" design not chambered, wondering if ProjectC55 had a chambered magnaflow?

I really want to drop my second cats but I am not sure what Texas is going to think of all this or Cali when I move there next year... However, there seems to be NO cats on any mustangs down here and they all have stickers, what gives???

Well, after reading again this thread, I ask myself some questions. Often people talk about secondary cat and resonator removal. Resonator I can understand the reason, but why did MB in the first place put in these secondary cats in the exhaust line and most important what do they serve, apart from cleaning a bit more (if any) the exhaust gases and reducing somewhat the noise. If the car passes emission test without these secondary cats, why keep them?

The question is, does it PASS? I already have my res removed but I would like a little more sound...

Keep the cats, remove the muffler. Trust me on this one. PJ and I have this setup (no res, no muffler) and I highly believe this is one of the cheapest (and best) ways to get a nice and loud exhaust that still isn't annoying as hell. Drones only between 1600-1900rpm (35-40mph on 5th gear), and even then i enjoy it when im by myself.

Mercedes V8's have always had one of the best sounding V8s out of all of the competitors out there. So let it breathe!

The exact same thing happened to my C36, a piece of cat found its way into the tip of the exhaust. No matter how much I shook it and swore at it, it would not come out. Sucks, I went to MB and they wanted $2400 for a resonator back muffler from AMG. I like the AMG unit and all, but wanted a little more symphony, so for $1000 I got a new muffler from eisenmann. It is a flow through design and it is their race version. I have to get a new piece made from the resonator back to the muffler and I will wait until the spring as she is hibernating for the winter. Here is what it looks like, oh and this one says that it is for a C43.

Will you post up some pictures of this setup? I don't think I understand what your saying? Do you just have straight pipes running to tips? Wouldn't this look really odd? I do really want to keep my cats and if this looks better than the description sounds, then I am IN!

I thought it was a bargain compared to the dealer price for the AMG one. At least that was the argument I used to convince the wife. I will make a video in the spring for sure, now I just have to decide what I'm going to do with the stock cats. I don't want the same thing happening again; the eisenmann has the same ported tips as the amg and I don't want any more crap getting stuck in there. I have heard that the magnaflow 300 cell cats are good, can anyone else chime in on that? Or are there better options? Hate to think what the dealer wants for a new cat setup.

you want the best its gonna cost a few bucks. full ss exhaust from a decent shop runs about 800$ eisenmann muffler 1000$ headers can be made from any decent engine builder cost can run in excess of 2000$. race cats run about 350$ so for about 4400$ you will have the best setup for your baby. gains should be about 20 rwhp.

$4400 custom exhaust for "20 rwhp" more like 15hp max but I still did this @ 20 rwhp and it still = $220 per hp gain

Super charger $5000 90 rwhp = $55.55 Per hp gain

If you have money to burn on the HP gains end.... Go for this
5.5 swap 50 rwhp $7,000 installed (Rebuild plus install closer to 10K depending on what need to be done)
Kleeman supercharger 100 rwhp $10,000 installed
Custom exhaust $4500 20 rwhp
E55 Tranny to support all this $6,000 installed
So $25,000 to $30,000 gets you near 180 rwhp @ $166.66 per hp....

Basically if you just in this for sound improvements, you can achieve this for much less money, if you in it to win it HP gains. The sky is the limit....
