I am located in sacramento.

That would be awesome if you could arrange something. If not maybe tell me exactly how he reset the tranny

Oh, I'm located in southern ca. You can set something up with him if you make a trip this way. If not, you can give him a call. Either way, here's the contact info. They did a fantastic job and Matt is very knowledgable when it comes to this marque. The name is Leistung Autohaus, phone number is (714)741-2010 and ask for Matt. I hope he can help you over the phone but there may not be much he can do without actually seeing the car.

I'm not sure how many are interested but I took a short (long) vid of my 5.4l swapped C43 w/ the rear muffler delete. It's just a cold start and I let the idle drop down to 600rpm after the initial 1300rpm on startup. There's a 9sec delay so you can fast forward to about 00:09. Feel free to share your thoughts:

Had a chance to run against a bmw M6 from a 40-50mph roll today. I was surprised that my car stayed dead even the whole time. I dont know how fast we went but I had my car floored all the way down and we went at least 90mph

I honestly feel like Id start slowly pulling on him if we kept going but due to traffic we both had to slow down.

my car is stock with the 5.4 motor swapped

did you fix your lag issues with your car?
does it run properly now?

when yoy say your car stayed DEAD against the M6, what you mean by that?
could you barely keep up with the M6?

If he's in the P500 mode he will pull away from you as the speeds get higher. Ask me how I know

Engine ordered for my car. Went with one from a 99 E55 with 127k miles. Comes with no accessories.

I sold my other C43 to fund it, so I don't have another car. Being pressed for time without a car, I won't be doing anything other than the direct swap. I'd love to have a day or two with the car+engine on my own to a few things but that stuff will have to wait (plugs, valve cover gaskets, etc) because I need the car back ASAP. My current engine needs all that stuff too, plus a timing chain, so I'm just starting over with a 5.4 with WAY less miles. I am SO EXCITED. The C43 is barely considered "quick" in stock form, so I'm really curious to see just how much of an improvement in performance awaits me when it's done.

Thinking about doing it before the swap. But does it get too loud? Does it make it annoying to drive long distance? I drive 45 miles to work every day and then home!

No, it's the perfect exhaust mod.

so just delete the 2ndary cats? or the resonator too? Definitely want it, but I also don't want to be obnoxiously loud

Edit: what the hell? Exhaust shop says they can't remove any type of cats from any car because it's a minimum fine of $2500. They don't even smog test here, and I live in Tennessee! What on earth???

Mine with the secondary cats and resonator removed passes the pollution test every time with no problem. The test is done every two years and the rules in this country (Switzerland) are very strict. From comments mentioned by others in the US also say that the smog test are no problem either. The visual may be a problem in California. Don't know if other States have similar stringent rules.
P.S. In my opinion you need to find yourself another exhaust workshop
P.P.S. Cruising speeds doesn't get you any intrusive noise with the cats and resonator deleted. Other modern vehicles make much MORE noise than the C43/55 IMO

Eh, hell with it. I'm gonna go ahead and delete both. Awaiting a quote on a guy I found that will do it for me. Any recommendations on X vs Y pipe? It's getting a 5.4 next week, so I figure I'll go whichever one nets more HP.

Unless you run a true dual back to the muffler, you can only use the Y-pipe. Good decision removing the reso

I listened to both your E55 and C43 vids. Man they both sound great. But does the E55 sound a little more high pitched to you?

after an E55 engine swap, did any of you time your car 0-100km/h?
with stock C43 engine some magazines tested this car on a track getting 5.9 or 6.5 seconds 0-100km/h???
don't know what is correct sprint time for a c43 engine?

what is the sprint time 0-100km/h with an E55 engine mod?

I would say the 6.5 secs is the "real" time for a standard c43 with stock engine. Expect a slight decrease in 0-100km/h time with better flowing air filters with secondary cats and resonator delete.

I imagine that a sub 6 can be easily achieved with a later 55 engine (367PS)

Best 0-60 times ive seen for a stock c43 is 5.6 seconds.

If an E55 can break into 4s than imagine a c43 with the 5.4 engine.

6.5 seconds is ridiculous. I dont know where you got that.

I think C43 "saloon" (0–100 km/h) or (0–60 mph) is (5.6>>5.7) seconds,,

while (5.9>>6.0) seconds for the "Estate"..!

ZAYED,,

I know for a fact my car, with 250k miles, was doing faster than 6 seconds to 60mph. I even made a youtube video to prove it. I've read all those old magazine reviews too and I have no idea what was up with the testing in those days. I've never seen a C43 take 6.5 seconds to hit 60mph.

New engine arrived at my mechanic's shop. I got to go over and inspect it with him. It came with a surprising amount of stuff from the donor car. It's only missing AC compressor, alternator, and air filter box.

poured over it with my mechanic to come up with an idea as to what we should do to it before it goes in. he is very adamant that I go ahead and put on a new water pump. I told him my old water pump is only about 20k miles old, but I think he still wants to put a new one on there.

he is also very serious about using the intake off my old engine. he pointed out the diaphragm on the donor car's intake is extremely rusty. I think the donor car/engine has been sitting for some time. the water pump barely turns, everything that can rust is very rusty (EGR pipe connecting nut is very rusty). I'm going to be buying all new plugs for it, of course. the NGK's in my old engine went well over 100k miles and are still very healthy.

I always avoided dumping cash into my old engine because of how many miles it had and how I would rather just wait and do it right with a 55 engine.

I'm going to keep the E55 headers off to the side just in case I ever get adventurous and want to find a way to make them fit in the w202. I know the stock 43 headers are a bottleneck and draining some power from these cars but anything else doesn't fit.

I assume I'll need new exhaust manifold gaskets right now?

Reading about the rust on the engine, it may be a good idea to get a borescope into each cylinder to see what the condition is like in there... Hope you don't have unpleasant surprises
