Question C43 slushbox transmission

I was out driving yesterday.
Coming out from a parking place, I was driving about 20 MP/H on the main street and was going to floor the axxelerator, pedal to the metal, nothing happened car was going normal speed, I stomp harder on the pedal, nothing happens and then after stomping the pedal 2nd time and a few mili-seconds later my car just aXXXelerates like a loose cannon!
WTF?
Within a few mili-seconds after the 2nd stomp on the pedal I was up in about 65 MP/H.

I have been diving my car like an old fart lately, old geezer cruizin'!
This longtime driving style, does it make the transmission confused and when you change your driving style to sportier driving then transmision gets confused?

Does this symptom happen with C36 cars with old style 4 speed trans and the new same type C43 trans from 1997?

To avoid this type of lag do I have to drive like a carthief all the time to avoid this crappy transmission behaviour?

Is it dangerous for the c43 trans if such thing occurs?
Is it a risk for a transmission failure when this type of lag happens?

The transmission kick down is a part of the adaptive throttle system on the C43. It adjusts to your driving style, so if you have been driving granny style, it will hesitate to kick down. I believe a Sprint Booster can help with this, though I don't have personal experience with it.

It's true, I also have seen that if you drive like a granny, the tranny will respond likewise: slooooowely. It takes a couple of seconds to wake up, rise up and go. Then, if you drive faster for a couple of minutes, it adapts nicely.

Thanks guys.
It's now official I'm a granny driver!

What's a SPRINT BOOSTER?
Is it something like Viagra for my AMG?

I've done the tranny reset before a few years ago, but not lately.
I will have to do it next time I drive my Benzito.
Cheers.

I drive pretty aggressively so I usually don't have the problem you are talking about but when I first got my car I was far from impressed until I did the ECU reset (AKA tranny reset, this term is under debate) and then BOOOOOOOOOOOOM a totally different beast. I still do the reset about once a month but I hardly ever notice a difference unless I have been driving around town slow or cruising on the freeway (which is almost NEVER ) I suggest you give it a try...... can't hurt

reason I've been cruizin' around instead of driving like a carthief is if I drive to fast noone can se meine silberpfeil auto (my silver arrow car).

I just hate to fill up the empty gastank everytime I speed alot!
It lasts for about 3 weeks and I don't drive my car everyday.
Therefore cruizin' is sometimes a more prefferable driving style.
Gas price is cheap in USA, in Europe it's the opposite, we get robbed everytime filling up the empty gastank.
I guess there's one word for this robbery.
SUCKERS R' US!

an adaptive tranny is a good way to loose a race!
If you drive the car like a granny and the tranny is adapting to this driving habit, and then the devil in Mr. Jones decides to drive the car the way it should have been driven, sportier, then nothing happens, car is like deadslow!
LOST RACE!

Wasn't this lag cured on later editions MB cars?
Or is it still the same crappy behaviour on newer Benzes?

You guys whos got the 4 speed C36 cars, you don't suffer from this problem?

There are many who have experienced this same quirk...I have at the exact same speed/situation. It must be the adaptive trans program.Just do an ECU reset and drive HARD

I don't get it. Deciding how quick the car goes, isn't that what the gas pedal is for? Why is the transmission going to do that...

what is this famus tranny re-programing chip you have in USA?
I have read many times on this forum that the original software is too agressive, and the stealership remedy this by reprograming the transmission?
Does this tweak even exist at all?
Then every worldwide MB dealer must have this software to tweak the transmission?
I asked my local stealership and they have NEVER heard of such thing tweaking the trans software?

Then same problems happens with E55 as well?

Supposedly the RARE 2000 C43's came with an updated ECU program that was said to fix the tranny problem, here is a quote:

"Some differences have been reported between the 1998 and the 2000 version such as the ECU software on the 2000 version that seems to provide better gearbox performances and longer life to the gearbox."

But the 2000's also had tip-tronic shifters so whether or not it could be applied to our gate shifters I couldn't tell you..... IF the update to the ECU even exists.

If I'm not mistaken the E55 has a different tranny:
C43 = 722.631
E55 = 722.622
