I completed my move into the new apartment, now i have a fullsize garage to service my car in.

As a result the W202 is already up in the air, preparing to lower the front axle and while I'm at it, finally install the KMac kit. All the while I am taking the rubber off my authentic repair AMG rims and refinishing them in a _surprise_ tone.

My birthday is on the 31st, so this will be a late gift to myself. Expect to see pictures within 3 or so weeks.

I updated my flickr feed. Included are some picture of the right side of the engine bay, the intake. This only applies to the M104 W202s:

Also notice the installed K-MAC bushings on one of the pictures:

Valvecover off for a deep cleaning, and then some.

Adjusted the steering box. Found play in the drag link. Took the dring out along with control arms.

A brand new Meyle assembly going in tomorrow, then the car is being lowered on the ground again reassembly of the underhood assembly begins.

EDIT: Drag link out. New one in. Started lower intake manifold re-assembly and let me tell you boys and girls. Never disconnect the transmission vacuum modulation line, unless you have a very good reason to. Such a pain in the *** to re-connect, its mind blowing. Very very painful, especially if you have large hands.

  • multi wiring problems
  • suspension rattles
  • rear camber
And finally got to do fun stuff to it!
  • intake heatsoaking baffle
  • 190E Cosworth 3.27:1 LSD (I love you money-one!)
  • +1 AMG wheel fitment with 245/35R18's on all 4 corners
And holy sxxt! The car is suddenly competitive in the local autocross team. It is really something. I went from sucking off R\T Neons to this:

http://www.cartct.com/10-10-10.shtml

Not to mention that after I took instruction from a friend on the fun-runs, I managed a 57.296s with him in the car. Shaving off impressive 7/10s. No cones.

Summary of the cars (and drivers obviously) that were done today:
  • E36 BMW M3
  • Latest gen Subaru STI
  • Previous gen Subaru STI
  • 2x fully-built FC RX-7 Mazdas
  • 3x Ford Cobra replicas
  • 2002 Subaru WRX
  • B5 Audo A4 quattro (debaged, sounded like a 1.8T)
  • All generations of the Miata
  • E36/7 BMW Z3
  • Mitsubishi 3000GT
  • 2x Triumph Spitfires
  • ACR Neon
  • 94, 95, 99 Mustangs
  • 95, 03 Mustang GTs
  • Latest issue Civic SI 4-door
  • Porsche 914
  • SW20 MR2
  • RX8
  • 2x VW GTIs
  • BMW 330XI
  • 2x Mini Cooper S
  • C4 Corvette
And basically within 0.5s of a GT3 (I know he didn't do any better in fun runs, so depending on who you ask, I was quicker today).

Some pictures: http://www.cartct.com/10-10-10p.shtml

Nice seeing you Ben (appatula)! Hope things work out with your car. Drove Ben's car today and realized how precise the steering on these cars is supposed to be. Tight and nimble. I have to find the point of failure and slack in my system.

Next project: shutting a C43 owner in a straight line? They just won't stop running their mouth about that all. Anyone from the tri-state want to meet up? Mass, RI?
Congrats on getting the car out. Couple of things I couldn't help but notice from the photos:
A lot of body roll. Might want to considers stiffer anti-roll bars.
Front tires locking up. What's wrong with your ABS?

I love the body roll where it is, wouldn't want too much less. Takes bumpy corners perfect and always lets me know ahead of time before it starts oversteering.

ABS has always been off, it is hardwired. Got the car this way, no ASR, no ABS.

Trust me, you want to drop your lap times, you have to go up to 500 lb springs at least and heavier bars. The fast cars barely move. I am going to upgrade bars because I don't want to ride in a dump truck.

Haven't been around these forums in ages but seeing that v-cover deserves a shout out; hats off to you man! Good seeing you in Mass btw bro, coincidence or fate I think its a sign for me to get my C into tip-top, mingle the odds and ends. NEED to put that 190 Evo diff in and get the suspension properly toed/cambered and go for a nice rollout. When I grab some K-Mac's I'll want you to be there just to supervise, I don't want to end up pulling off the c-arms more than once

Just to reiterate, the ride looks sick Denis. Post them FB pics up here, she looks sinister and I like it.

When you took the arms off and saw this, does that look damaged to you? I JUST pulled it off and am not sure if I need to replace the castor bushings or they just look like that normally...?

Completely normal. That is after putting them right in. They are polyurethane filled and greased.
