Who is running an up graded pulley on their C43?
I'm wanting to see who is running a light weight pulley or any type of pulley that has shown good gains and for what price? ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

Anyone have Evosport kit?

Or AMS crank pulley?
http://www.abedinmotorsports.com/pulley.htm
I have heard its dangerous to change the crank pulley?

Kinda concerned here:
Isn't underdriving the power steering pump a little bit dangerous in the longer run? This could lead to massive power steering failure, which is a pain and a big bill to repair.
Engineered not only to be the best pulley kits on the market, but to provide the best compromise between performance and reliability for your BMW! Specifically, we have designed them to underdrive the water pump, power steering pump and alternator*. We do not believe it is safe to change the crank pulley due to the potential harm to the crank. These kits provide 10%-20% overall reduction in driving your car's systems and have been dyno tested to provide up to 12hp gain!

The claims are to be just the opposite. Underdriving it take stress off the pump its self causing it to last longer. Claims* I know for a fact some of the guys here have them... Speak up!

Hmmm...I'm wary of using a solid crank pulley. Those things are supposed to have the rubber in them. YMMV and all that. I can't elaborate more regarding the specific reasons, but my trusted engine builder is not a fan. Okay to use solid, lightweight accessory pulleys, but not for the crankshaft. I listen to him when it comes to motors.

Running a crank pulley without a harmonic damper is NOT a good thing. That ebay pulley should be avoided at all costs. You need a harmonic damper on the crank pulley.
If the pulley is installed correctly it should last the life of the car. The only time issues arise are when shops have improperly installed pulleys, nonetheless the pulleys are always replaced free of charge even though its not our fault (that's how strongly we stand behind our customers here at AMS). All AMS products are backed by lifetime warranty.
Thanks,
~AMS~

The word -should- has never really left a warm fuzzy feeling inside me when I am buying a moving engine part. Reminds me of the people that buy loto tickets their whole life because they should win some day. The larger % of these people end up dying with nothing to show for what should have happened.

Ok, it WILL last the life of the car, but no matter what the lifetime warranty is there. The reason I said "should" was b/c its impossible to guarantee the installation was done correctly. If it is installed correctly everything will be fine. If its not, then of course like any other mod, it won't function properly.

Has anyone here been using one for more than 10k miles? I really want to know if these are screwing up the engine like people claim.

sounds like airplane
why worry about the reliability? it won't do anything to improve the performance of your car...
how does this even come up? it's a testament to the power of marketing and how few parts there are available for these cars!
Imagine how you'd feel in a few months when you spent your $$ on a pulley, it did nothing real to improve the performance of your car, you had a catastrophic failure, ANY warranty you may have had on the vehicle has been voided, you have thousands in repair bills, the product warranty covers sending you a new one so you can start the cycle over again...
Plus the thing is damn expensive to begin with (particularly if you wind up having a dealer install it to be 'safe').
I'm no anti-modification curmudgeon either- I took a hammer and sawzall under my hood on my C43 and found a way to pull quite a bit of extra power out of it. I've also changed the sc pulley on my MCS amongst other modifications.
