400 Crank HP with the 4.3 M113

I think it could be done.

Keelmann:
Cams: $2295.00 +17-20 HP/TQ
Headers $1495.00 (includes down pipes) 20 HP

Eurocharged Dyno Tune $550 25HP
Res Delete and X pipe $300 10HP
Evosport Underdrive Pulleys $350 12HP

That's 97HP at the crank (302 stock + 97 = 400HP) give or take a few in each direction for $4990 or $51.00 per HP. AND since I know some one will say it, the parts swap right over the the 5.4 engine for later. So why don't people tune our engines anymore? Doesn't the 5.4 weigh over 100lbs more too? Seems like everyone gives up and goes right for the 5.4, even if their current motor is still in good shape. If you did just one of these mods each 6 months to a year, its not as huge of a hit and an entire engine swap and you can still move to the 5.4 once the 4.3 goes. Are most of these numbers not accurate or what?

sounds good to me! especially the interchangeability with the 5.4
good research

with the tune; if you got that after you put on everything, do you think you could squeeze some extra power out? because it would optimize the efficiency of everything right? i am probably wrong and none of that makes sense haha

buffyclk is right, get an lsd!!

That sucks about the underdrive pulleys. I'm still waiting to hear more about the long term affects of the AMS.

not sure about the other tuners but after you buy the eurocharged tune any retunes are free. so you can retune after each mod you do

It doesn't work like that. I welcome you to prove me wrong, but they don't just add up like that. With all of that, I expect around 340 crank horsepower. Again, I welcome you to prove me wrong, but I highly doubt it.

The n/a 55 motor weighs 368 lbs. (dry weight) so if what your saying is true then our 4.3L v8's weigh 268 lbs or less??? I would be surprised if this was true...

What he said. You are talking about fairly complicated interactions between these mods. I'd be willing to bet that you might in fact lose some HP by trying to integrate all of these mods in such a bolt-on manner. I'd stick with cams/headers which have at least presumably been developed to work as a package, and then take it to a dyno tuner that you trust. Even then, I'd be surprised if you gained 50 HP from it. This isn't even considering the fact that most "tuners" grossly overstate the gains from their mods....or at least burn dyno sheets in less than normal conditions/environmentals

100 pounds? I find that hard to believe too. According to the specs listed in the 2002 press kit, the E55 weighs nine pounds more than the E430.

This hundred pound figure MUST be comparing the 55K against some other engine. Even then, the weight difference must include the supercharger, hoses, second set of valve springs, coolant pump, cooler, belt, and everything other blower related part on the car.

You’ve already a clean and desirable C43. Sinking another $5000 into it seems false economy.

Realistic incremental gains on a normally aspirated AMG are neither inexpensively nor easily achieved.
Seldom one to douse another aficionado’s fire, me thinks those alleged increases are woefully optimistic.
If you’d like, send a PM when you arrive in Manhattan Beach.

eclectic assortment of cars
I have to agree with ECTurboGSX and FlyNavy's comments. Unfortunately, real life tuning isn't like Gran Turismo. Those numbers might be possible, but I think it's unlikely. I think the problem, in our situation (ie., naturally aspirated AMG tuning), is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of proven ground covered.

It's unlike situations with other cars, like, say a small block Chev - where there are tons of available options and you can generally find out that headers from 'A' will get you 'X' hp and torque because so many people have already done it.

The one exception in our situation is the 55 swap. It's been done relatively frequently, and the gains are tangible. Cost is going to be comparable to buying all those parts a la carte. But power is not the big gain anyway, right? That extra bore and stroke add up to a considerable increase in torque, and in real world driving feel and performance, that is going to be felt much more, most of the time. IMO.

True but Eurocharged does it while you standing there. If you don't like the before and after results, its a full refund.

So basically Kleemann is lying? Because their two mods add 40hp alone and Eurocharged lets you watch the before and after dyno at 25hp. Thats still 65hp. We have seen the dyno sheets on the res and 2nd cat delete being good for about 10hp, so that is 75hp? I am just trying to understand whos lying here? And why do these similar mods add good gains on the M113 5.4 and the 6.3 AMG motor? Just better parts or what?

Still running well eh? You did or didn't do before and after dyno sheets? I can't remember?

If there is anyone I want to prove wrong, its the people selling this stuff and making these claims that can never be achieved.

Austin are you going to Jerry to get the eurocharged tune?? If so are you going to dyno before and after?? This will prove who's right and who's wrong... I am interested to find out if the Eurocharged tune really adds the HP/TQ that Jerry is claiming. I know the C63 guys are all EXTREMELY happy with there eurocharged tune but at the same time the C63 was seriously detuned so as not to share the same numbers with some of the more expensive models with the same engine. I'm sure there is some more power you can squeeze out of our C43's with a tune as AMG didn't tune the C43 to the max (as well as other cars) due to the fact that there are a lot of different octane ratings that people in different states (as well as different countries) are using so if you dialed in your ECU knowing what octane rating you are going to be using all the time you should be able to adjust to make more power, how much is the question...

As far as the other mods I would be surprised if you added all the mods and got all the power that is claimed but I guess we will never know until one of us bites the bullet and dynos before/after installing each mod. You would imagine that between all of the members on here someone would of dyno'd before and after installing some of these mods....

1/4 mile times are probably not the best way to determine how much power you have added... Granted in theory if you added power then you would get a better 1/4 mile time but at the same time 1/4 mile times are varied greatly by driver as well as environmental conditions, a hot day and a bad launch and you could be running the same 1/4 mile times as you did before you installed the mod. A dyno is the best way to determine how much HP/TQ you have added.

Yes I am still waiting for him to come up to Dallas. He does this tune with you standing there at Autoscope in Dallas, you see the car run the stock numbers, he then makes his changes and runs your car again in front of you to show the gains. If you don't like it, you don't pay. $550 includes the tune and the dyno runs. Its the only reason I even considered the tune. I plan to be the jerk that bites this bullet, people think im nuts for spending $5k on a $10k car but if its the car you love and are planning to keep in the garage for years and years to come, then who cares? I just want to see how much I can get out of this dam car before I go for the 5.4 swap.

I'm with ya.. Slowly but surely my C43 will be kleemannized as well as Eurocharged (once you prove the numbers for us ) After I get my suspension installed I am going to start on the exhaust. I will be picking up a set of the kleemann headers for sure, I am debating to go with straight pipes or the eisenmann exhaust... When is Jerry supposed to be in Dallas??

Autoscope is having mustang come out and recalibrate their dyno this month, so hes not expected up before that of course, I am in contact with one of the Autoscope guys via email and he will be letting me know when their back up and running and Jerry sets a date. I can't wait to spend all this money but I am going to be doing it slowly, piece by piece, I wish I could just run out and dump the $5k today but I don't think that would be as fun or as smart money wise.
