Kleemann headers c43

hey guys im looking at purchasing some kleemann headers for the c43 on the website it says that you need the ECU upgrade too with the headers, is this true or can you just install the headers without messing with the ecu, also anybody who has had kleemann headers installed on their 43 or experiences with them's comments would be appreciateed

cheers

You do not need the ECU tune with the headers, I believe projectC55 has the kleemann headers.

and how good do you guys think the kleemann headers are? to me they look ok... but nothing special. i could have some custom made up by an exhaust shop that preps race cars and does some pretty good work what you guys think??

But it is recommended to get more HP. Down the road I will send Kleemann my ECU.

However even without modding the ECU I did notice a difference.

But they will more than likely have to take the motor out the car to make them. There is a guy with a CLK55 W208 who did just that. Thay came out excellent. Think he lives in Va.,and his W208Clk55 runs low 12's but is LOUD as hell.

ProjectC55 yeah some custom made ones would be really nice and even better if they could do it with the motor in lol. i dont want it to be too loud just nice flow through the exhaust. i would do the X-pipe to Y-pipe to 3" resonator to 3" all the way back to either stock muffler of some other one. and sorry about the long *** reply but whats the story with the cats on these cars? is there some that come off the headers and then some further down that the X-pipe would come off?

I got Kleemann headers last week. I can live with the design knowing that left side headers need to go around the steering column. However, the welding and finish is so ****ty I wouldn't be surprised to see it leak.
I should have done some group buy on mbh headers... but I thought theres not enough interests. I've seen a lot of exhaust parts before but the mbh stuff was pieces of art...

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but you've forgotten to add a very important bit of info. You're RHD, the Kleemann headers are designed for LHD, there is a forum post on the UK benz forum from a guy who bought them and they couldn't be modified to suit. I only emailed Kleemann again 2 weeks ago to check cause Our Aussie $is soo good and they got back saying that they won't fit (dispite what their website says about modifying).

Basicly for us it's the AMS headers (NLA) or custom. Having said that I'm really liking the headers from the CLK55 from projectC55's post...........

I was told that he's running dual 3"inch pipes from the headers back to two dual bullet 3" mufflers. No resonators or cats either that is why the car is hella loud. His setup would not be as loud I feel if he put on reso's and a dual entry muffler or bigger mufflers putting one muffler at each side of the rear.

The klemann headers eliminate the front cats by the way.

Finally I think the custom headers on the CLK55 is the way togo. He said he would need my car.

Im not feeling the quality either but they do work. Especially more so when u add cams and SW.

Its just cheaper for me to get mega HP out of my crappy Mitsu vs making the investment into my Benzo when it comes HP to $$$$.

If I did'nt have the mits I would have went cams and SW and S/C on the Benzo and turbocharged my M3. Just would have been ALL too expensive though. Also I don't think I'd hit low 11's high 10's in the 1/4 mile with either German toy.

Mitsu is almost done loooking for 650awhp.

4G63 FTW! My buddy recently picked up a mildly tuned Evo IX MR. *******' fast, even with the boost turned down. Four of us in the car, wintery roads, and it still pulled extremely hard. Very fast, and the torque ramps up very quickly, must be pushing 350-370 ft lbs. Those cars are cheap to mod, relatively speaking.

Evos of that generation are pretty rare in Canada, never officially imported. Only in the last couple of years or so with the harmonization of bumper laws have they been allowed for import. I like them a lot better than the current Evos. My buddy bought the car in Toronto, took nearly a month for the car to get shipped out west via train, then about a month after he got it back, some idiot chick on all season tires and no driving sense smashed into his fender. He's still waiting on parts to repair. What a pain.

Nope! but I asked the owner of dynocomp/mbh if custom headers for c43 was possible. Well, it is possible and he assured that it would be much better design than Kleemann and cost more too. MBH headers go for more than 3k and I had to pay for R&D($500) on top of that..
The build quality of the mbh was fantastic. It felt like looking at saxophone or some musical instrument.
I'm sure if we can get like 10 orders, we will get pretty decent deal.

Well, I'm guessing it would be around $2500.. more or less... but knowing the kleemann header quality, I would definately shell out another 1k if I could get the mbh headers (and return the kleemann)

WOW, I would have to see a dyno sheet that could gaurantee 30+ HP to shell out $2500 on headers...

Hey Guys,
Didn't MarcusF propose a solution with the name (link) of a company somewhere which makes one off headers, based on flex and articulated pipes you shape and sent to them? Can't find the thread though. Can someone help or perhaps Marcus can you chime in?
See ya all

Yeah but you have to pull the engine out of the car...

Sounds like you mean stainless. They ship a PVC mock up kit, you bend it to the shape that works, send it back, and they weld you up a set of headers. The new headers are an exact match for the PVC kit. If the PVC kit can be installed with the engine in place, so can the headers.

Sounds easy EXCEPT, you have to know something about airflow. Tubing diameter, primary lengths, and collector angles all matter greatly and you have to tell stainless everything. Having the stainless kit AND knowing the specs of headers that work will go a long way.

Thanks Marcus Well I thought it would have been a nice idea to have some cool headers for our 43/55's. I may investigate on this subject in the UK.
