Help with Valuing a '98 C43 with 39k miles
Hi I am inquiring about putting a price on a car that is not mine. A friend asked me for help.
1998 C43. 2nd Owner. Owned since 1999
39k miles
All maintenance performed at a MB dealer.
Silver/black
Excellent condition - as I am told
Rear quarter panel repainted due to parking lot incident.
TX car - no winters.
Any guidelines for value? I understand that there is a small pool of interested buyers.
Thanks!

Yeah, aim high on this one. There are buyers out there who will pay decent money for such a high quality example. I'd be comfortable paying between 10-15k depending on condition......I bought mine at a similar age/condition, and had an awesome experience in 4 yrs of ownership, so I'd say folks that are in the know, also know what a good value this can be.

I paid 12K for my 98 with 59k miles on it a few months ago.
I knew the entire history of the car so I wasn't worried about paying a little more for a car I personally knew was in really good shape.

I got mine for $12k about 6 months ago. Its 98 with 43k miles on it. All the services were done by dealership and the seller even kept gas reciets in the car portfolio. This one is even more rare with white on blue/black two tone interior

Just a point of reference. I sold my 99 C43 with 50K on it in late 2004 for $25K. The guy I sold it to kept it for three years and sold it for $15K with 90K on it. The car was dealer maintained. It had the OEM ROW suspension on it and C32 wheels. The two tone interiors are worth a little more (love to see the blue black combo). $15K for a C43 under 40K miles sounds like a fair price. While the pool of buyer may be small, they are very devoted.

I think you might be able to get $15k for it if you find the right buyer, but such buyers are very few, and it might take a while, if you want a quick sale, $12k would sell very quick
I bought mine 07/07/2007 and I paid $11k for it with 78K miles

Thanks everyone for the comments. I see the value as $10k-15k. Depending on the seller's willingness to be patient, market it properly, and find the right buyer.
I have connected the seller to a dealer friend of mine who gave him a good number on the low end of the above range. My guess is that my friend will sell it to him for a quick sale and easy transaction. I'll post a link if it comes back up on the market. I expect that a retail asking price will be mid teens.

I'm thinking about selling my '99 C43.....said I'd never do it.....but we're moving to Newport Beach, CA in 2 months and I've got my eye on a really nice Audi TT roadster...
My C43 is silver and two-tone with 48.5K miles. Spent the first half of it's life in Atlanta, and the second half with me here in Dallas. It's original, pristine and babied all it's life. Oil changes once a year at the dealer whether it needs it or not. No issues.
Anyone interested at $12K? Send me a PM.
P.S. I know the C43 is better than the TT, but at least it's a 3.2 quattro DSG S-Line....and the top goes down!

Maybe I missed it,
but is the car actually in Dallas (or nearby)? I'd like to have one of those cars, and just trying to figure out how easy it would be to get there and get it done. Any idea if the paint/repair shows on Carfax?
If that one is gone, I prolly have an interest in the other one mentioned above...you can PM me if you like. Thanks...

I personally would not pay anymore then $13,000. I think that is a fair price. Maybe put it up for $13,000 and see where it goes. You never know. Good luck.

The market for the c43 is already relatively scarce, and the those willing to pay 12k+ for a mint c43 will be even more rare. If you're not in a rush, just wait and keep posting. The right enthusiast will come in due time.

Seeing the excellent condition of the 36, I would recommend John-in-Dallas to keep it. I certainly would

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
She's definitely a beauty, although I prefer black (I've had too many silver cars!). But if you bring her with you to Newport Beach, I may just think about taking her off your hands! I live in the next city over.~
