2000 S500 for swap, questions
Am I correct that this years 5.0l has the lower compression ratio?
I'm guessing I'll have to move some of the other stuff around to make it fit right (manifolds, oil pan?).
Would the transmission from the same car be plug and play in mine?
thanks

Any M113 4.3/5.0/5.5 well fit directly without any issue, sometimes it may need to replace the "oil pan-headers-hoses-wires", depend of the
body & modle,, if you need to put a 5.0 as a replacement Engine, it well be OK,, but if it for an upgrade things, you well NOT get that good
benifit,, 5.5 is the best choice........

I am considering all my options
Not sure I need the extra power from the 5.5 vs. the 5.0 or that it's at all necessary. Keep in mind my other modifications that will be carrying over.
The guys with the E55s were able to boost their hp with the same blower I'm running, but it didn't really seem to keep up at the top end (although at least one of them wound up running a tiny pulley and pushing the efficient limits of the sc). A low mileage 5.0 is significantly cheaper too and I'm not real worried about whether or not I have an "AMG" motor or not in a car that has a bunch of Mustang parts on it already...
I also expect to see something north of 350 ft lbs at the wheels with "just the 5.0" and would like to not feel like a broken transmission is hanging over my head at all times (although I'm not sure why I will feel more comfortable at 350 than 390 or whatever the 5.4 would actually make).
Of course I could always have the blower re-worked and run a smaller pulley or modify my brackets to run a centrifugal charger with the larger motor etc. etc., but honestly whatever I do I'll have a much faster car than I "need" and will likely have equal amounts of fun with it. I know how the costs can pile up if I try to go to 500 or 600 etc. etc.
In no way have I made up my mind on which route to take either.

I would dig back and look through Money-One's post. There are some M113 engines that have a different oil pan and oil pump (which I believe is driven off of the timing chain) that would need to be swapped due to sub frame clearance. I don't think a MY00 S500 motor would fit into that group as I believe the problem engines were 203 C55 engines and 209 CLK55. But it is important to note that not ALL M113 engines are created equal in terms of how easy the swap is to a C43.
I don't have any personal experience with it, just something I remember reading.

Correct, depending on the origin of the 55 engine, you need to keep the oil pan AND the oil pump from the 43 and swap to the 55. Thats nearly all and don't forget to keep the 43 exhaust manifolds. You need to find a solution to the little water pipe at the rear of the left bank of cylinders

let's try to work something out- I'm going to need pictures and all the information that you have on it. I'm a little leery of the fact that it has been sitting, but suppose that's better than being flogged on and having high miles.
I still haven't spoken directly to my potential installer as he's out deer hunting, but I'm confident we can get the motor in the car with an acceptable cost/hassle on my end.
