C36 owner saying hi! Pics inside

Hey everyone,

My name's Chris ive owned my C36 for around 12 months, bought it bone stock in great overall condition minus wheels (clear started to flake). Had some slightly distasteful mods to it, chrome handles, chrome door sills and lip wing. I like a OEM look overall i guess on these cars. I have yet to remove chrome on the handles coz they have had double sided tape or something on them for quite a long time and theyre f*&^ed.

Anyway spent a while doing small things like respraying the front bar and rear bar, sideskirts and shaving all badges off the back. Had my factory springs reset by K-Mac, Bilstein Yellow shocks installed. Had a Avant Garde grille that i modified a bit as u can see in pics. Turned out nicely. Brabus style Mono IV's all around. The biggest mod so far is the stereo. It came with a kenwood fold out with factory speakers, sounded like s**t so that was turfed, just as well as the wiring job was done by a complete moron...

So i added a Alpine CDA bla bla bla 7" with Pioneer splits in front pioneer 4" in rear doors and Pioneer 6.5" co axial's in rear shelf. I hate tuning stereos off head units for the simple reason that whenever you disconnect the battery....u have to start again so i ran 4 MB-Quart amps, 1 purely for 4" and tweeters and 1 for front drivers, 1 for rear shelf and finally 1 Mono for the Crossfire 12's in the boot which r all tuned off amps completely. Everything is dynamatted and meticulously installed. took 2 weeks to do 100% properly and fix all other wiring bugs i found along the way. Ive had lots of very impractical cars so this install was done with functionality in mind and so far i havent had to look at anything again. Forgot to mention each speaker i made fibreglass enclosures and are all sealed, seem to andle more juice that way..i dunno..seemed like a good idea at the time.

Bad pic but i fibreglassed and trimmed the tweeters in on the original tweeter grille, makes it look good, function bettwer and still looks pretty OEM.

Thought id put a couple pics up of the old project, Good fun but not worth the hassle with the cops like it is in Australia. Theyre not concerned about Serial killers and rapists...no no its the modified cars they want to wipe out.

And final pics of new Top secret kit before i Sold it, 330 ish rwkw

I also bought another C36, wrecked and have pulled the engine, gearbox out of it to be put in my 190E 2.6 (currently running 3.0l m103), ill put pics up later of that. Have been compiling parts for a long time now so nearly ready to do the swap but spent the last 2 1/2 months off work coz i lost the plot slightly (went insane with work and quit) so im lacking funds a bit at the moment.

Plan is to run R200 skyline diff in rear subframe w/ Supra 5 spd on C36 engine running haltech computer. the look i want is static slammed on Evo 2's and lucky me bought a complete cosworth bodykit (genuine) off ebay for $1000 so that will be on there too, completely stripped and sprayed interior and to make it a bit JDM (strange i know but i like it), some Bride seats and Takata harnesses.

Hope u dont mind my rambling but im excited about this 1!

Cheers and thanks for reading!

Welcome and I like that very clean looking 36 Nice to see some well maintained vehicles still exist. I have certain doubts regarding how the front grille fits with the car though...

P.S. What gives with the propane heater and spot lights in the background

yeah i know what u mean. Bad i phone pics, spent alot of time making it look pretty today, theyre fairly old pics, ill take some good shots with a decent camera tomorrow.

Hah the propane heater....i really dont know why thats there...lack of room from memory. What gets turfed outside? C36 engine or propane heater, definitely the heater.

Thats cool, if u know what the Jag type S grille looks like, it looks the same as that, just bad pics. either way id have it over the avant garde....everyone has it.

Yea just springs make the drop, still rides well and doesnt scrub, had to delete the resonator coz it was about an inch off the deck...bit tricky turning sometimes but, then again i dont like comfort or luxuries typically in any car, just the bare essentials so if i think the ride is ok you will probably hate it lol...

I like that grill - as w202mylove and 99ceefourthree said, it's different and I think it looks great! I also love those wheels - very sharp!

However...personally I'm not thrilled with how low it rides in the rear. I've never been much of a fan of lowered cars, especially when the top of the tires disappear into the wheel well. But, that's just me.

Beautiful clean ride otherwise!

Definitely miss the Nissan, was a weapon on the street but just too many police problems, we have a system here in Aus that if you modify a vehicle in just about any way you can be 'defected' for that modification or groups of mods, ie: no air box, atmospheric blow off valve, screamer pipe, too loud just to name a few. So to get around this you must have the car certified with certificates from a qualified automotive engineer to say its a-ok. I had all of this sorted.

then one day im driving to the workshop that has done most of the work on this car. doing 50 in a 50 zone, nothing odd about it. Blue unmarked XR6 turbo has some1 pulled over, sees my car ditches the car he has pulled over to pull out and then get me. Usual b.s begins like "your cars too low too loud too this and that". so i hand him the certificate to explain that my car is legal. He then fills out a defect notice, this is where life sucks in Aus.

Where it says "Defects:" and theres a blank of about 1/2 an a4 page to fill in he writes "nil". I asked him then..what the hell do i do with this? Then i was referred to the very bottom of the certificate and it says "EPA inspection: FULL" with a big tick in the box next to that. So i then find out that the RTA's (equivalent to the US DMV i suppose) requirements for a street legal car with the correct modifications is completely different and conflicting to the EPA's (enviromental protection agency) rules...So to pass this (similar to smog test i suppose) it was easier for me to pull the engine and put a stock RB25 to run the test and then swap it all back later..so thats what i did..and it cost me alot of money coz this guy didnt like me or my car or something....

Other problem is theres sooo many Skylines here now i think there mustnt be any left in Japan so you look like every other dumbass driving round.

Finally im a 190E fanatic, so the current project is my 190E 2.6, currently 3.0L and converting to 3.6 AMG. Shouldnt get the same attention from the cops that the skyline did and totally unique. I have been looking at a 3582R to strap to it too if it still isnt enough, orrrr try and do as much NA tuning as possible, might not get half as much as turbocharging but its worth it to keep the awesome sound of these engines.

The height of the back end is almost what i like, would ideally like it to tuck a bit of rim, but its just off...definitely not worth going lower but. Took it up the coast this past weekend with a few mates, 500km in total and drove flawlessly all the way up in total comfort. Eclipses the skyline in every way bar performance.

Thanks for the compliments again guys, really appreciate it!
