I am very happy with the standard stereo and amp power is sufficient to blow most of my ears off, plus when I drive, I do in without music as I prefer listening to the engine talking to me

My third-brake light housing rattles under moderate bass attacks, which annoys the crap out of me. I still haven't figured out a solution since it involves a third-party riding in the back seat to pinpoint the source.

But I'd love to see your new HU when it's installed. I'm thinking JVC or Pioneer, since the backlighting can be tuned to match nicely with the dash lighting. I had my eyes set on a Nakamichi CD-300 HU as well, since it's more 'old school' and era-appropriate, but it doesn't offer modern amenities such as USB porting.

as for 3rd brake light...are the clips broken? maybe add some dynamat type material inside or wherever to add weight?

No, the clips are not broken. At first, I thought it was the housing rattling against the back window, but it turns out the housing itself rattles when bass hits. I may try the 'Dyna-mat' solution inside the housing, never thought of that! Thanks

Did you figure out how to get that rattle to go away? I recently installed a 12" JL Audio sub with a JL 500 watt amp combo that JL Audio makes and the rattle from back there is crazy loud. It seems its the whole rear deck on mine as well. Im thinking of doing dynamat as well.

I honestly can't imagine going away from the bose setup in the car. Audio sounds super clear and loud. The bass is awesome too.

Do yourself a favor and go with Alpine! It's not just about LOUDNESS, it's also about crisp solid bass. And clearity for each song you play. You will hear things that you don't hear on the stock radio.

I use to think the stock radio was awesome. Till I switched to the

Alpine CDE-HD149BT Single-Din.

Sound is so much better than stock. AND I didn't have to change speakers! The alpine brought the speakers to their potential.

Haha, resurrection of an old thread! No, I never figured out what the rattle was. It just "...went away...". I know, crazy....

whoops on the old thread lol. I hope mine goes away soon. I’ve tried to wedge cardboard in there and that didn’t work. I wonder what can be done to get rid of it. I’ll figure it out sooner or later. If I figure it out, I’ll post it.
