oil change DIY on c43

I have never done an oil change before and I bought the oil and filter from the dealership for my c43....are there any good known videos or DIYs to help me with this? If not can someone help me out? I would really appreciate it

Any second now a drain versus vacuum debate will break out. Obviously I favor my approach (vacuum), but either way is OK (if two ounces of old oil are an issue, the engine may have bigger problems). I'll look for a good vacuum sample. BTW, what does a dealer charge for a quart of oil?

i know a bottle of 0-40w goes for 9 bucks near where i am..mobile 1. wonder what the dealer bottles cost as well.

btw marcus...GREAT site you got going. what are your thoughts on seafoam and such? snake oils? do you think synthetic oil over time does the same?

Thanks for the complements and I’m glad you like the site. I’ve never used seafoam but I have used similar products (although not any of our Mercedes). They’re good for cleaning the oil from the intake. The oil typically gets there via the PCV and if not cleaned I envision it gets coated.

AwalBenz, my favorite vacuum oil change DIY site has been taken down.

Here’s a youtube video for the drain plug method. They do a good job of describing the hardest part (which is quite easy) – the oil filter.

This shows how to use a pump rather than the drain plug.

Hi,

I am from Brazil and have bought a C43 a couple of months ago.
I am changing the cover valves gasket, been back the paper filter instead k&n installed previously.
My really concern is about oil, the previous owner has been using Mobil 1 15W50 that I think is too tick instead in a tropical climate.
Any advise on changing it to Mobil 1 0W40?
As the car has around 24 000 miles, can I expect any issues on this grade change?
