Need help buying new tires
For some reason no matter what, I always seem to buy tires every year :/ This time my tires lasted 20kmiles (bfgoodrich all seasons), the time before that my KDW's only lasted about 16kmiles.
I am properly aligned (as much as possible- and the treadwear is even), but I keep getting crap use out of my tires- sure I turn agressively, but usually only on on/off ramps.
Either way I need new tires that will hopefully be quiet, smooth, and last me a long time!
18" Rims 245 of 255 rear, and 225 front. I believe sidewall is 45 or 40?

I am at 19,000 miles on my Toyo proxes 4 UHP all seasons and will be purchasing some new ones SOON. I have never done a burn out or brake stand but I am definitely guilty of power sliding corners.
Your tire wear seems to be normal to me

If you're running 18's, you should probably be running 225/40/18 on the front and 245 or 255/35/18 on the rear. If tread wear and noise are your primary concerns, you'll want to stay away from Max and Extreme performance summer tires. Maybe look at a UHP or Summer Touring tire. Do you see a lot of below freezing weather in NorCal? If so, you may want to look at an all season. Just understand that you that you tend to give up performance for comfort and longevity unless you get into the more expensive tires that can win some of that back. One of the recent Car and Driver issues has a tire comparo and would be worth picking up.
Also, go to Tire Rack and read the customer reviews. They tend to be as unbiased as you can get. Good luck.

Does anyone think that I may have problems running a 235 on the rear where a 245 or 255 should be?

Therefore, the outer rolling diameter of a 245/40/17 and 235/40/17 is different. Will it be enough to make the cruise control not function? No, I doubt it. The difference in OD should only be about 4 mm or around 0.15 inches. (40% of the 10 mm difference in width)
