Question gas mileage

what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting in your c36's? c43's?

i have been getting around 15mpg city and 18mpg highway in my 96 c36, thought it seemed kinda low. do you guys think it is because of my lead foot, or might something else be of the matter?

i did a search and nothing came up, so i thought id ask.

please tell us which model you have as well.

about 300-350 a tank (lots of highway)
when city/highway half half is about 300
only city is about 250
i always have a lead foot
can't help it, it's the car

99 c43, 55kmiles: 19-20 city, 24-25 highway. I was always pretty happy about those numbers.

1998 C43. 55k miles.
In town: 20-21 mpg. City: 24-25. No joke. Published numbers are 18-22. I am pleased to have such a heavy car with a big V8 getting better gas mileage than our Subaru Outback, Subaru Impreza, Ford Ranger, and only slightly less than our Mazda Miata!

damn, so far it looks like my mileage is a bit under par. do you guys think it is something worth getting checked out, or do my mileage numbers sound like they are likely influenced by my driving style? i know i drive pretty aggressively, but i didnt think i drove so crazy that it would affect my gas mileage this much

i know you dont buy a benz (especially an amg) for good gas mileage, but my weekly average that i calculate at every fillup has been coming in at around 16mpg (mixed city/highway). that just doesnt seem right, especially with you v8 guys getting about 4 miles more to each gallon. doesnt make sense if you ask me...

I wouldn't get it checked out, yet. On the next fill-up, drive a tank without stomping the peddle, without aggressive driving, etc. Also, do your city miles dominate the highway's? Books say 18 in town. That of course, isn't completely town, and it's also not driving hard. Try that. If it's still less than 17 after you let off the peddle and use the freeway a little more, I'd get it checked out. I suppose my town driving is actually closer to 20, maybe 19. But my best is 26 mpg. The car get's that peak at 65 mph. However, I normally cruise at 75+-, so I get around 24/25 on freeway. On the average fillup, with mixed driving, I expect 22.

im driving from sf to socal next weekend, so i guess ill see how good my 100% freeway mileage is. im pretty sure it will be worse than all of yours though, since i get impatient driving long distances through the middle of nowhere without testing the limits of the car.
