chip for c43

anyone heard of GForce chip for the c43 AMG? I saw a website www.gfchips.com that states it offers some device that one mounts in the engine compartment that saves 4-7mpg, up to 30lb-ft of torque and up to 60hp for 69.00? Has anyone tried this?

I would say be very weary with this product. Look at the other reputable tuners (Evosport, OETuning, Kleeman, Eurocharged etc) and look at the power increases they offer and the price of their product. $69.00 for a chip is already incredibly cheap, and the power increases they quote are very high. I would say steer far, far away of this company.

"The GF Module installs into you engine bay and is connected via 2 wires that plug into the IAT Sensor. The unit is then able to reprogram the ECU..." -http://www.gfchips.com/mercedesc43amg.aspx

Enough said?

Notice how they claim "up to 60 HP" and "up to 30 ft/lbs torque"

This means from 0 to 60 hp and from 0 to 30 ft/lbs torque, if you get 0 HP or 0 TQ that means you got what they claimed.

Exclamation The chip plugs into the IAT? Then it is a resistance.

This "Chip" plugs into the IAT. Well, it works, it fools the ECU telling it the air intake is cold and the ECU injects more fuel than normal. This is obtained through a mere resistance. Nothing more.

Honestly chipping a 100% stock 43 is useless unless you have supporting mods.Go with some Evosport pullies, a set of headers, some good less restrictive air filters and say some less restrictive exhaust plumbing. Then have a reputable company custom tune it for you.You will get more for your money IMO.What they are selling for $69 does not belong on your car..or anyother!

Cheap mods: real or fake.

It may. I am studying to do several little mods (using resistances and a little more than that) for improving performance and mileage. Studying at this stage. There are documents in the Net. A set of changes must be done to get permanent results.

So far I made only one mod, using a small resistor: modified the starting temp of the auxiliary fans (the ones in front of radiator). They used to start at about 115 degrees centigrades. To avoid excessive heating of the engine, I set them to start at about 95 degrees.
Engine gets hot in high traffic jams in tunnels in Santiago.

It is not my idea. But I can tell you it works perfect.

Until soon.

115°c is certainly NOT the normal temperature and the fans should kick in much sooner. Mine do at around 93°. The temp sensor must be on the way out

I am talking about a 1990 W124 sedan. It IS the normal factory setting.

Agreed,,

Fools the ECU through the ITA causes an interruption to the back MASS signal, this kind of chips can be used to the old version of the carburetor or LHF/MHF/KE system,, its risky to use the chip to the ME or HME like our system, cause our ECU has a signal reads the results of the MSG ignition through the ITA stored to the ECU data,,

Don’t go with that kinds of CRAP chips,, tune your car in proper way,,
