Camber Adjustment

I have a c43 and a looking to lower it with the H&R sport springs. They apparently lower the car about 1.5'', so I am not expecting the camber to be too far out of adjustment. I know they make replacement adjustable control arms, but i really dont want to spend $300 per set(or whatever they cost).

Is it true that the stock bolts in the control arm bushings are not adjustable at all??? That seems crazy.. and if i get the eccentric camber adjustment bolts, is it true that you only have a few options to set the camber? That doesn't really seem to make sense either. I don't think I will need to do a ton of adjustment, but i don't want to only have a couple set options... Can anyone answer these questions???

IIRC, camber is not adjustable in it's stock form.

If you are talking about up front there is no camber adjustment. The only thing the dealer sells is a "repair" kit Which gives you .5 degree movement either direction from stock. It is not an eccentric bolt hence the two fixed settings. With the bolts this should get you close to -1.2 on front camber. In the rear you will need adjustable arms as with the H&R's you will be close to -2.5 on camber. There is a DIY camber arms for the rear that cost under $100. Here is a pic of the standard bolt and the repair one.

I have found websites that offer eccentric bolts for the front and rear arms... Are you saying the bolts wont offer enough adjustment? And what do you mean by DIY camber arms? (not asking what DIY means btw) Do you know where I can find these?

You also have the solution to full camber adjustments front and rear by using KMac adjustable suspension bushes. They are expensive but they give you complete freedom to adjust and align your suspension as you wish and like.

Even with my KW suspension set up and reduced stance, I have not installed the adjustable camber arms on the rear as the camber is not important at all. In any case, the standard factory alignment specs from AMG recommend a small bit of negative camber front and rear.

You also need to check and keep the toe in front and rear perfectly adjusted. This is probably just as important if not more important than camber in order to get a decent wear pattern on the tyres and a good feel when driving and braking.

Yes, this is what I was referring to. I have had these on my car for almost two years and 40k miles and are holding up great.

The factory repair bolts can get you close enough where tire wear is decent. The Kmac is the ultimate way to go but is a pricey solution. the repair bolts can be had from Autohaus AZ for $20 or so. You will need one bolt per side unless caster also needs adjustment.

Have you ever tracked/autocrossed your car? I'm hoping to get into some track events this coming season, and while like DRB I don't really care enough, and my mech has told me it's not needed, to install these to correct the camber for everyday driving, I'm considering front and rear adjustments for track purposes. But I'm quite weary that these DIY rods will not hold up for a second under those circumstances.

Anyone have experience with this?

Sorry I haven't tracked the car at all. It is my commuter/beater car. Besides a C280 on the track would be less than exciting in the acceleration department. If you don't drive much I would imagine you would leave it as is as tire wear wouldn't be an issue and the additional negative camber would be desired. For me I drive 25K miles a year and tire wear is more important. I'll dig up the alignment sheet before I had the front repair bolts and the rear camber arms installed. If memory doesn't fail me the front was -1.8 degrees and the rear was -2.5 degrees. right now I have it at -1.2 in front and -1.5 in the rear.
