Did You Guys Need Spacers?

I have seen most c43 owners go from 17" rims to 18". But i have not read that you guys had to use spacers?

I bought 18" rims which i don't know which mercedes it came out off. But when i installed the rims the front ones run on the metal arm/rod that connects to the upper ball joint.

I will need two 10mm spacers to clear the rims from the metal. A total of $220.00 for the german made one from the tuner shop usa website.

Did you guys need spacers? Did i buy the wrong rims for my car?

eclectic assortment of cars
There are a variety of Mercedes wheels that while they might look similar, vary greatly in offset. About the only thing that is similar are the bolt pattern and centre bore, 5x112 and 66.6mm respectively. Oh, and there are variations in bolt diameter too - some models use 14mm diameter wheel bolts, but the smaller C-Classes use 12mm.

Whether a particular wheel will fit on a particular car will depend on the offset. Generally speaking, depending on model of car and also model year of that car, there is a range of 'acceptable' offsets that will work, if that makes sense. For instance, W202 and W203 C-Classes seems to be good with offsets in the high 20s into the 30s. But W204s need much higher offset.

The final complication might be the spoke design, as it may interfere with brakes or other suspension components.

If you steer away from the big name brands, you can find spacers for about half that price. I'm getting ready to buy a set from 'macprostore' on ebay for the 300ZX at $61 per pair, so we'll see how those turn out. I'll know next week when they come in.

My 18" came from a W210 E55. No problems fitting the wheels and they sit perfectly with absolutely no rubbing

I bought the spacers for $120.00 for all four wheels. I got the 10mm thick all around. They fit perfect and car runs really good. Pictures don't show but the rear tires are huge, love the way it looks.
