Startup issue
Any help is appreciated...
When I turn the key the car does its thing where the revs kinda jump up to two thousand rpm or so but as they are dropping down to idle...the car dies. Did it twice in a row today. Third time I had to get on the gas before the rpms dropped to keep the car from dying. After that it started normally....
Anyone ever have similar problems??
I'm guessing its either airflow or fuel related??

Air leak or fuel issue,
try to pulling the air box out, investigate the all breather hoses & the elbow that attached to the TB,
remove the MAF and see if there are any kind of dirt or particles around the sensor,,
did you replace the fuel filter....?, if so, then check the fuel pump fuse & relay....

I've got the exact same thing, I suspect its my new Key as it only happened straight after the purchase!. I'm going to trial using the old key only for 3 months and see if it helps.
Its very random.

I don't have a SDS and its pretty expensive just to get it scanned
My fuel filter is due for a change so it could be that
I did clean my throttle body a few weeks ago. I made sure I used a soft brush so I wouldn't scratch the inside of the TB. There was a noticeable difference in idle after that.
I also pulled off the airbox the other day but didn't take the airflow meter and the elbow off again because everything seemed fine
Ill try replacing my fuel filter and report back in a few days. That thing has a lot of miles on it...

I had a similar problem (see thread "a bout of flu") recently. It wad a faulty MAF and a O2 sensor.

I have a brand new Bosch MAF ,O2's,Crank and Cam sensors.
My dealership parts guy thinks it will be the key module(or what ever you call the part you insert the key into)
My engine will start as normal but die as the rpm drops after the startup spike, every now and then it will go to start and sound like it gave a 1 millisecond attempt but not enough time to get the starter engaged, this usually happens after the the engine has started but died in the first situation. Then the car will run fine for a week+. I haven't had it happen since I swapped back to the old key last month.
But this is just guess work ,I've been looking into a a star clone for a while, I think its time to get one.

I'm not sure if it is common, but for him to suggest it there must be more than a few cases, the part is fairly expensive, a new key here cost ~$550, the EIS was ~$900, so I wouldn't be replacing it without scanning first.

That’s strange,,
i have a code of the EIS always when i diagnose the car, but its not let the car to dies while its authorized to start up....!!,
maybe the ECU gets some kind of intruption signals through the ( "EIS" or "TB potentiometer Circuit" or "CAN ignition lock malfunction" ),
in some cases; EIS got a random wrong signal circuit during the car runs, it needs to reprogram the EIS & ECU in the same time, to authorize a back signal to be saved in the ECU E-ROM file,,
you should carefully diagnose the car through the STAR/SDS, 2 or 3 times, when the car off-on.....
