C43 mass airflow elbow popped off???

C43 mass airflow elbow popped off???
So I was driving home from my res delete yesterday and on hard excelaration my car bucked and started running bad. Then died at the next light!!!! I was freaking out cuz then the check engine light came on. Got it restarted and limped home, ran the codes got an O2 code and air mass code, cleared the codes and the p0100 came right back so I figured air mass, so I went to pull it out and it was loose??? What happen was the clip broke and the elbow rubber seals are hard as a rock so it popped off and also pulled a vacuum line off then intake manifold? Not sure if this was caused by to much movement of the engine, due to bad mounts or bad elbow seals or both?? Anyone run into this before?

Can't think of any reason why it would pop off even with a bad clip. The mass air itself should be clipped onto the the intake also and should hold it in place. It's possible I suppose if your motor mounts are real bad, the airbox could be hitting the firewall/harness tray, but the airbox is mounted pretty solid. I'd look at how well everything is mounted and secured. Replace elbow. Replace motor mounts.
In my opinion you should be replacing those motor mounts before doing exhaust work that really isn't needed.
Easy way to check your motor mounts, have hood open, put car in gear, give some gas when holding brake, if the motor is flopping up and down, motor mount is bad. Do it in reverse also to check the right side one.
