Monoblock Dreams

My 18" Monoblocks came in last night. Shipped from Colorado for almost a giveaway of a price, thank you Asad!

So they are chrome and I'm going to send them out to a shop after the holidays, just don't have time to refinish them myself but wish I did. Ideas on finishing? Color? Powdercoat? Paint? Polished lip? Will post pictures later tonight.

Edit:Staggered set, no cracks or welds, in very good shape (seller said he drove them from Nevada to Colorado before slapping on grey monos and said these ran true and straight) aside from a bit of curb rash on all of them and peeling on one of them. All genuine MBZ, three made in Belgium and one made in Austria.

Hell yeah! I like the original silver (non-chrome) Monos with a polished lip, especially on a black car. 2thumbsup:

Going to follow my buddy kowalski, he likes his ride-height/rims the way I like my women. Can only fit one finger.

There is something about a black car sitting on chrome!! Decisions, decisions... I've got time to think.

I'm going to go with the KW setup, it's like 2g and I have a couple of obligations to take care of first, so I'll try to pick them up by Feb., before the thaw in the Northeast.

The rims e55 chrome staggared have been sitting in my room while i learn about them and make decisions. A chrome rim cannot always be rechromed because of the original process. That is there may be rust and pitting under the hard alloys on softer aluminium wheels. The provided as i understand it is that these wheels must be tested for trueness, afterward they can be electrically and chemically stripped. An intense inspection must be performed to determine whether a replate is possible. A polish of the rim would only he smooth out hills and mountains while a bead blast could help valleys and indentations. I do not want to pay for
For chrome that will not look right. They are suggestion that i get non chrome rims and have those chromed out.

I paid 400 for the set, i can have them stripped for about 200 and remanufactured inc polish-powdercoat for maybe 400. At 1000 for a very of perfect e55 staggered.

1000 is not a bad price, it's a deal for me. But i want chrome on my ride. So any ideas or takers? If i sell these complete flawless rims for 1300 small bump for my work

The other route is the time get nonchrome and apply perfect chrome and i pay 3to350 each as is, putting at 1800 and happy.

Anyway my rims are no welds, bends (if and bends will be fixed) only have road rash

Ideas?

Those are some great looking wheels, I have the silver w/ polished lip on mine and I love them. I'll refinish them in the future since they came with a bit of rash on all four wheels.

I picked up another original, mint condition set with 75% tread for $400 CAD last week. They were local and I paid the asking price as the guy obviously didn't know what he had. I was across the border at Costco in Bellingham, WA a few days later and an employee at the gas bar came over and offered me $1000 USD for the set on my car. I told him that I had another set that I just picked up and told him that they had good tires mounted on them. He offered me $1500 USD and I immediately sold them. I went back down last night to drop them off.

Nice deal, nice profit.

Side note, I've always wanted to see the 18" Monos in black chrome.

So I just happened to notice something today... When the hell did that happen!!! Ruh-roh!!

Anyway, c43s come with a full size spare... Except my full size spare has a polished lip?? What?? You got some splainin to do Lucy!! Also my spare conti (made in Germany!)

Well maybe this explains why my 17s are all peeling around the lips??

Anyway I still have the chrome 18s that I'm going to have powdered. Been thinking bright OEM silver with high gloss sparkle clear or maybe I'll go for a darker silver with metallic flakes and a high gloss clear. I don't know if I can go polished lips, depends on how they will powder them. I don't want them sandblasted since it'll ruin integrity but an acid etch is ok with me, however if they chemically strip them I'll get a polished lip.

Kinda looks like that bent rim lip area may have been painted at some point.

So I was reading the owners manual and it says that the spare rim is only rated for 12000 miles. Is that because of the tire or because the spare rim is not as strong as a regular rim?

Never mind, my manual is faded and I didn't see the except c43 portion.
