The wiper gets stuck and then stops working, what could cause this? The later it would start again.

Yup.. It needs greased same thing happened a few months back. Ended up doing the job in a car wash. should do this job every year or so depending on how much you use your wiper.

Yes It happened to me this morning aswell. After a much needed rain from our SoCal drought, i turned on the wiper and noticed it was getting stuck. I going to grease it tomorrow for sure.

I tried, I could remove the head and replace the gasket on a 1960 Pontiac Ventura, but I can get this cover off the wiper arm if my life depended on it. I was able to spray some grease from under the arm into the main shaft.

I also noticed the rubber and the plastic cover under the wiper arm need to be replace and all those scratches at the bottom of the cover were already there...

there are small clamps on both sides under the plastic cap, you need to put your fingers below and unhook the latches

Ok so this problem came back and came back with a vengeance. So at first after I greased it and finally learn how easy it was to open the covers. But on my trip to Eureka from LA I encountered a couple of storms at time at freezing temps. So suddenly the wiper motor stopped working. and I have to travel back without wiper which I didn't mind as I am used to driving in Europe where I grow up with the ****tiest cars you can think of.

My mechanic went through the whole wiper system and after checking it for an hr it gave me the bad news that I need a new motor. Since he was doing an oil change anyway he only charged me $15 to test the wiper and see if the motor was functioning without the wiper arm on.

So I called on our forum member Fred and he sold me an OEM motor for $40+$40 to install and we installed it this morning in a bit over an hr. Was a bit tricky to get the wiper in the same position so that it would extend at the right moment and place. But he did it and actually thought me how to do it.

We swapped the assembly and I retained the blade and ended up with the better of the two including an almost like-new round rubber seal under the wiper since mine was completely dry and destroyed.

I fell better doing this with a used OEM than buying an new aftermarket motor for $60.

Thanks Fred!
