Havnt posted in a while but ive finally found a very good used 55 engine to swap in. Found it with 143k miles for 1050....couldn't pass up. will be installing next week once it arrives...hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday. Just thought id give a heads up so if anyone has any questions while I do it let me know. im an MB tech in SC so ill be doing it here. already got the parts list needed for the swap. going to reseal everything before I put in the new engine. finally been waiting for awhile now to wake the C43 up a bit more.

Mods:

H&R lowering springs
2nd cat delete and res
18in staggered monos
3mmF/5mmR hubcentric spacers to clear calipers with 18's
C/CLK 55 front calipers and rotors

color matched silver door handles
15%tint all around and 50% on entire windshield
k40 caliber front and rear
k&n's with a modded air box
kicker 12
advante grille
amg flat badge

55 engine on the way
oh and every seal, gaskets, sensor, and timing chain all done and im sure more. a lot of work into her. but all has paid off since this car is a blast to drive!

Oh and by the way. I have 2 brand new in box never installed front 18x8in mono replicas and one rear brand new in box 18x9. THEY DO NOT HAVE AMG on them, long story...only have 3 not the whole set. you can easily find one more rear wheel. the replicas are not cheap remakes they're made to MB specs and approved by them. My MB alignment heads fit on and in the holes like they're supposed too. They are Silver face with machined lip. willing to take offers. looking for around $500-600....like I said brand new in box never mounted on tires. don't need to sell them so no low ball offers, just putting a feeler out, was planning to keep them as spare back ups.

did you buy USED calipers for 90 bux a piece?
i have the same but brand new calipers and discs at home waiting to install them in a few years maybe in 2020? when my current c43 pads are ready to retire.
seems like my Portefield R4s pads don't wear a lot, they have been very rigid and quiet, great pads if you want low dust on your rims

how do you like your braking with the new kit compared to c43 brakes?
do you still use the original c43 brake master cylinder for c55 calipers?
do you notice any spongy brake feel when you apply your brake pedal?

Used stock master, much better braking and firmer pedal. FYI the c55 brembo calipers use ceramic brembo pads. a lot less brake dust compared to stock 43 pads. was having to wipe my wheels every couple days with stock pads and now with new ones dust takes much much loner to accumulate.

factory c43 pads are Jurid.
these are awesome pads with great biting!
however these pads dust like crap, rims needs to get rinsed very often

i bought Akebono euro ceramic pads for my new C55 brake kit.
many people on this forum praised these pads as being very good.

My idea was to keep it incase anything were to happen. But im wanting to have the engine worked so I can build it up. Brabbus took the m113 430 engine and were able to make a 5.8 and renntech had the clk and e60s that were bored out 430's m113 engines to 6.0 so I know it can be done. would be nice to have a 6.0+L m113 with ported heads and all and have cams done. would be sick then. but once the 55 engine is in the next step is forced induction. I have two turbos that I REALLY want to do a rear mount turbo set up but also I can get my hands on a Vortec blower....but ill need to make a front timing cover bracket like on the Lorinser C43 that they put a what looks to be a vortec type blower. so that's the plan. But a turbo or supercharged 55 would be cool but that built 6.0+ with turbos or supercharged would be a lot cooler...and if nitrous can be added yeah id like to have a little added kicker

How does the insurance company look at your car after an engine swap... Does the premium go up?

I highly doubt it matters. do you think they look at you car after you tune it, add a supercharger, etc?? I sure as hell don't tell my insurance company im modifying my car or anyone. as far as im concerned "I don't know anything about any modifications, I bought this car like this" and ill stick to that

Your bride looks awesome, love the lowering as well..,,

I don't think insurance looks to Mechanical/Electrical side..!, they may concern about differ body kit only, isn't..?

The spacers must be whats making it look not as tucked as mine then . I just read that you tun spacers.

No rubbing?

Yeah wasn't planning on it and had a lot of problems trying to get the right spacers for up front. FYI anyone...I highly recommend that you don't go over a 3mm spacer upfront as it makes it really difficult to center the wheel on the hub past 3mm. I first got 5mm for upfront and could not even drive down the road a mile before I turned back to my shop. the wheel wobble and balance was sooooo bad. and also I had 235/40 18s up front at first and they rubbed way too much so I got the 225/40's. and once everything was fitted well I had only a tiny little rubbing on the inside front fenders on a little crease part....just sanded it smooth and fixed that. and also very slight in the rear on the inside where this little plastic tab comes off the rear bumper. sanded down as well and all is good. and no one can see where I trimmed the inside unless you took wheels off and stuck your head inside the wheel wells. wouldn't of had to run spacers if I didn't put those bigger brakes up front but they look a lot better than stock so that was reason enough.

Update!! 55 swap successful. Took 2.5 days to finish. Not too bad of a swap at all. The only thing is...now everytime i accelerate the little yellow triangle thingy keeps lighting up and my speedo guage will register a much higher speed than im actually going and also once i start going my rear end keeps sliding sideways. I dont really understand. Ill try to diag those two "complaints" as soon as possible but any thoughts would be nice.

congrats dude
are you happy?
did you get any help with engine swap?
what year was your donor engine?
did it come from a w210 car?

do you have a gps reading your speed, compare your gps speed to cluster.
check how much it differs?

you are losing traction because you have way too much torque, your roads are they snowy or wet?

you have to check for codes if you ESP is out of whack when your car is sliding sideways.
how is your rear tires are they worn?

The thing about the esp was clearly a joke. Being sarcastic saying its much easy to spin the tires and get side ways when you want now. Not that it was before but you can definitely tell a difference. Can spin the tires rolling in first if i want to now lol. Much better with more torque. The engine was from a ml55. Just swapped my oil pump and pan just to be safe although they looked pretty much the same. Didnt really need help. Im an mb tech...just did it at work. No issues at all with the new engine..electronics...trans..etc. i did reseal everything. New water pump. Thermostat etc. Runs great. Slight timing chain rattle when cold(only noticeable by me) like my 43 had before i replaced the chain to resolve. Planning to replace chain on this one for that and it brought a little better performance and gas mileage back so it seemed. But happy with the swap. Going to call logiclab tuning about a higher tune. They claim 385hp/410tqish so thatll be a nice bump.
