LA AMG Meet

We had a great turn out yesterday at the Rose Bowl. It was an awesome seen with representation from pretty much all AMG models, except G55s and ML55s. One awesome sight was the 3 SL55s (especially the Renntech).

One thing, I was the only one who came with C43. We need more representation from the W202 AMGs. For the AMG owners in the Bay area, I am trying to organize the first ever AMG owners club and we've started the sign-up in LA. So, if you guys are organizing a meet, let me know and I'll come up to distribute sign-up forms. We're planning on having a California AMG meet. So, we need all areas to be represented.

Spread the word. Contact number 661-703-4899 or fastneutron@hotmail.com

Regards,

Robert

Hey 99slvrC43. My car looks just like your signature photo., except I think your car is lowered. Am I correct? I think your car is lowered. I am thinking about lowering my car but am concerned about hitting speed bumps and am afraid the ride will feel rough. Any thoughts or opinions for me?

Hey Ed, Yeah I lowered it with Brabus springs (~1.8" settled) and I'm glad I did it. But you are going at this the wrong way. If you add performance/lowering spring your ride feel will change. I knew this since both cars I own are lowered and they ride different than stock. I dont hit speed bumps, I approach them at very low speeds. I dont scrape if thats what you mean. The ride feel is exactly what I was looking for. Very sport. You can still tell its a Mercedes ride, but you know its a sport ride. If you lower it you'll need the new spring pads for the rear. I think we all agreed to pad #4 being the best bet. There was a BIG thread on this before the server crash. So much useful information lost.

Here is a link to all my lowered pictures, take a closer look

Thanks for the tips/info. Very informative for me. I love your pictures. It really makes me wanna go out and lower my car. Your lowered C43 looks so much better than my stock stance C43. Will I need to change my shocks too? Did you change yours? How does the Brabus compare with the H&R. The shop I spoke to told me that they can would put the H&R (1.5 drop) in my car. How much clearance in inches are your front, rear and side skirts from the ground? I am so concern that I will scratch up my car when I come to a speed bump or something?

If you are ever in the sunnyvale area during the day or in San Jose at nites and weekend, stop by and come see the car. I used a caliper to measure the gaps in the wheel wells and it was 1.2" all around. I liked the Brabus name and reputation so I went with them over any other brands. I have a friend with Eibach (the SL500 in the pictures) he wishes he had other springs. I have never scraped on anything. The cars is not SLAMMED, just lower, the way it should have been from factory. The only thing u need to look out for is when parking your car. Dont drive up to far or you will hit the curb or those concrete parking block/dividers.

I'll keep your info/tips in mind. I'll keep an I out for your car if I ever drive in the area. There aren't too many C43 out there especially in the Bay Area. Well I am mostly in the Fremont Area. Honk your horn if you ever see me on the freeway or something.

Edchiu8 and 99SlvrC43,

I'm also a recent C43 owner looking to lower my ride. I tried to find Brabus spring last week but they dont seems to have W202 stuff available anymore...

Like you Edchiu8 I'm wondering what is the best option:

-H&R springs (easily available) with a 1,5" drop and #4 pads

-OEM European springs with a 3/4" drop and #1 or #2 pads

I'm planning to keep my stock shocks for now (my car is 43K miles)

If somebody have experiences/ideas to share...

I still have some time to think about it, my baby is stored for the winter... :-(
