Kleemann Headers?

Hey guys. I know that this isn't the classified section but I had to ask as not everyone browses the classified section. If you have or are planning on selling a set of C43 Kleemann headers, I'm ready to buy now. I'm close to putting the 5.4 in and I'd like to install headers while the motor is out. Please PM me if you're interested. Thx

has anyone ever considered having a proper shop custom create some new ones? all they'd need is the stock ones to ensure proper fitting. how much could that cost? these kleemann headers are really REALLY hard to find and super expensive already.

Hey Sulaco. Are you referring to the stock exhaust manifolds?

I have contacted a custom shop near me as they are the only shop in Western Canada with a Mandrel Machine. I'm uncertain on the cost as they initially thought that headers wouldn't fit in a C43 bay because of limited clearance.

Getting custom headers with a V8 in a w202 is going to be a major task. Clearance arounf the steering is the major problem I've heard.

yeah, but that's kinda their job. a decent shop with a mandrel should have been measuring clearances and custom fitting headers for many years. that's how kleemann did it. once they got them to fit they just started copying those measurements and bending new ones.

I'm almost certain that I'm going to have headers custom made and ceramic coated by a local exhaust shop with a mandrel machine that fabricates pretty much anything for any vehicle. I'm interested in getting a rough count on how many W202 C43/55 owners would be interested in a set if a group buy was attained.

They'd need alot more than just the stock manifolds to create headers. Unless they are making them the same dimensions as stock manifolds... In which case would be pointless. A shop would need the vehicle with engine in and it would be very expensive. For very little gain.

Kleeman did it because they mass produced. Once you get the final product built, you then build a special jig for that particular part to allow you to copy it over and over with various checks in place. Unless this shop is setup to mass produce headers, its not what most custom shops do.
And to make the first set, is going to be very expensive, you're talking many many man hours. Just like machining world, to make the first part might cost 1,000$. To make the same part after that 100 times might only be another 1,000$. That was just an example but you get the idea. Do not underestimate what it takes to build a quality set of totally custom one off headers.

Also attached a picture of some German headers for our car (sorry, don't know brand) and a picture of my Kleemann's, but unfortunately not the side that is difficult.
