how do you replace this?

Rear vontrol arm mount(front by the wheel)

Its torn as a mother. It can rotate like aballjoint would. Dont see a way top it out.

Is it sloppy? It IS like a ball joint. It is meant to move on angles.

If those in my 95 C180 were still fine after 22 years and 366,500klms, i wouldnt bother touching them til theyre needing it.

So my friend ended up not being able to find the tool and my car has been on jack stands for weeks now.

I managed to pop out one of the old bushings but I ruined two brand new ones trying to put them in :\

This is kinda frustrating. Theres no way in hell im gonna buy a
$150 tool just to use it one time. I really dont know when ill have to use that tool again.

I made a DIY tool and my biggest challenge is when putting the new bushing back in, its hard to make it go in completely straight.

Is the arm hole clean and edges free of any sharp edges? Try using a fine metal file to round out a bit the edges of the hole. I would also oil or grease with a fine film to help ease the bush in. I used my workshop vice to press in the bush in my Ultima wishbones.
Oups just realized that the bush is on the axle carrier and no way can you get a vice in situ up there

They were pretty rough shape and had a little play in them. The seals were done and the grease inside was almost all gone, exposing the layer of plastic that the ball sits in and drying it out.

Guess that's a sufficient reason to change...

PJ did your bushes feel saggy when you squeezed the rubber edges?

if they feel soft olio had leaked out making bush sound squeeky like a flat tire or thump thump noise

I don't think I've owned a 202 yet where these are not split!, they would last forever if no dust got in there. good idea to replace if your in that area,if they have play it will make the rear end feel much more planted.

Diy tool is pretty straight forward you'll need a high tensile M12x120 cap bolt and nut or similar. suitable thick wall(~3mm+) tube 42mmID for the outer tube and 38mmOD ~2mm wall for the inner tube. super thick washers ~10mm. Good lube. as can be seen in the photo one portion of the pipe needs to be shaped to the axle carrier as this is not a flat surface to pull against, some care has to be taken otherswise it will deform your puller. If your short on time $150 doesn't sound that bad.

Cheers

Whatever you do, for your bolts and nuts get grade 8 steel. Other stuff will NOT do.

New ones were very solid and could not be moved by hand. The old ones were shot and can be rotated around by hand

What is the part number for these?

One of mine is pretty loose after a bang from the right rear when i threw the boot in at about 55kph and had that serious boot up the **** that 5.4ltr seems to want to deliver on demand...

The car still drives ok, minor wandering though, which is much worse under heavy throttle.
