I can tell you that it is very glossy and I feel it may be too glossy for my taste. G2 doesn't recommend anything to be applied on top of their paint and will not warranty their product if anything is applied over their paint.

so i am like 80% sold on wrapping the calipers. im a bit disappointed in the colors available to be honest. i am against any bright color really like red or yellow because its odd to have our older style calipers in those colors to me anyway AND the lack of matching accents on my car.

i do like unique and cutting edge though. black reflects as white at night. my choice is actually gold but my wife doesnt like it so there is that. as far as color scheme goes silver would be choice but it isnt offered. my c43 is completely stock colorwise (black on black) BUT my headliner fell and its time to replace it. im not dropping a grand or whatever it is on the oem crap that failed in the first place. i'm very tempted to go with a much lighter cream/off-white/white BUT you cant replace the headliner without doing the A pillars or it will look off. so my idea is to do all the pillars (ABC) only because my rear pillars are coming off as well. so if i am doing all the pillars i want everything to match (you guys know that the A pillars run to the headliner color scheme in black right?).... i feel like the A pillars wont look right in such a light color. and i am not sold on going red, blue or any other color so it looks like my headliner is going to be black. which means that red, blue, or white accents on the car (whether on the calipers or anywhere else are going to be off unless i start to tackle accents all over).

so what should i do?

The tuitorial video demonstrates the product on a caliper that is shaped perfectly for that type of application. I tried wrapping the exterior trim on my wife's 335I in matte black vinyl from shadowlinetrim.com. After three attempts, I gave up and decided to sand, paint, wet sand and paint again.

I completed the painting of the valve/breather covers and front and rear calipers. Overall, I'm very pleased with how they turned out. I know that the choice of orange won't appeal to most but, I personally like how it looks against the obsidian black paint. I also have black vinyl AMG decals that I'll apply once they're installed. The epoxy based G2 paint is exceptionally durable and will last for a very long time. Having said that, the instructions state that you have 4 hours max to work with the paint before it starts to harden. I bought the engine kit which would be enough to paint the stated parts. It would have been better if I had purchased two caliper kits instead and mixed one at a time in order to allow more time. You can't mix partial amounts as you'd need a jewelry scale to have exact measurements or the paint won't work properly.

Siiiick! I wanted to use G2 for my calipers a while back, but just ended up polishing & ceramic coating mine. Would be nice to get some black AMG decals to fit in the factory embossing for contrast. Did you find ones that'll fit or will you be placing them in a different spot?

Hey eFifty. I found ones that fit off of eBay a while back and had them stored away until I completed them the way that I had planned. G2 is nice to work with. It's an awesome product for calipers but like I had previously mentioned, get two caliper kits if you plan on painting other parts as well as the calipers. The only difference between the engine kit and caliper kit is the quantity. Two caliper kits gives you 8 hours of painting where as the engine kit is 4. A little more expensive going with two caliper kits but it gives you ample time without having to rush.

Thx Mickey! They claim that the paint self levels for up to 4 hours but I would say 3 hours as it starts to thicken past that. The valve covers show minor streaking in some hard to spot areas. That is why if I had to do it again, I'd use two separate caliper kits rather than one engine kit. My wife thinks that I'm being too much of a perfectionist but that is how I am when I work on anything. After the car is completed, I may give them a light sand and apply another coat in the visible areas. The calipers turned out perfect!

My late father taught me to have patience and to do everything the right way the first time. Also, to always have the correct tool for the job at hand. When you try to save time and cut corners, you run the risk of costly mistakes. My father was an airline capt. and a true perfectionist!

just to add for anyone thinking of doing it that i also felt like the vinyl wasn't really sticking on the caliper well, particularly the edges and it raised major concern because the calipers are exposed to water, dust, mud, heat, cold, etc..

i really believe that there is a very good chance of the material peeling up and possibly interfering with the brake system. (this might not be such a concern on a body panel)

i think paint or the g2 system would be a much safer bet and when it comes to brakes. better to be safe than sorry.

installed the new front calipers today and i'm a bit in a confusion as my passenger side was binding with the old caliper and it is still binding with the new caliper. any thoughts on why the wheel is binding? i've replaced the brake line, done a complete flush, and replaced the caliper. when the caliper is removed, the wheel spins freely so its not the bearing.

suspect it may have something to do with my abs/esp light being on otherwise i cannot understand why that wheel is binding. btw replacing the caliper did not solve my abs/esp light.

finally, i have to say the centrics were really top notch but i ran into a problem. seems like the bleed screw on the drivers side was cross threaded. anyway, when i attempted to remove the bleeder screw... it broke. the bleeder screw is hollow so i grabbed my smallest easyout and jammed it in. as i twisted the easyout... it broke off inside the bleeder screw. i used an electronic punch and began to drill and drill and drill. finally i drilled out the easyout and i was really really worried about all the metal shavings. also getting the easout out was really messy like a lump of metal just melding into the caliper. i persevered although i was sure there could be no success and used screwdrivers, hammers, drill bits and eventually with a larger easyout on the drill in reverse... i managed to get the bleeder screw out and the best part was that the bottom was still intact so little or no shavings entered the caliper. when the screw came out so did brake fluid as the caliper was already connected to the system. i bled that caliper very well with no bleeder screw. after bleeding, i grabbed a bleeder from my old caliper and made sure no air was left in the caliper.

lesson: examine parts very very very well before installation. i could have avoided all the extra work and stress if i just did that.

the centrics rusted bad... real bad less than 60 days of use.

so because it was less than 90 days of use, they are under warranty. JC Whitney sent me a replacement for the left side but they are out of stock on the right side. these drop ship from centric so when they called up to verify, centric asked for pictures. assuming they only want a picture of the right since the left already shipped.

when i get the new ones,,, i will be putting some heat paint on them followed with a heat clearcoat after a nice alcohol bath.

i suspect that the solution they use to ship them out has to be heated to a certain temp and its possible they arent doing it but rather depending on the heat of the calipers to cure. thats just a guess why the solution they used was ineffective.

anyway, so i am going to replace front discs now too, pads are not too old but going to replace them anyway.

does anyone use discs no# 2204211812? these are no problem? non-directional?
