sadly speedybenz was kind of hard to deal with from what i read. his modifications were all very well done and as a result he was in very high demand, having to keep his real job as well as do LOTS of custom fabrication work for forum members. he would custom fabricate entire suspension kits for w202 that would put them in E46 M3 competition. he was a former racing driver of some type (obviously not the famous kind) and he really appreciated the w202 platform as an underrated suspension setup that could be greatly improved without performing major surgery on it (no cutting and welding, just replace stock components with proper new ones). he used to regular the club202.com forums and share advice and tips.
I think he went through 2 55 swapped C43's. one of them totaled when he hit a deer and lost control. there was a good write up somewhere when a writer joined him for a track day and rode along with him while he was eating up M3's on the track in his C43.
here's an interesting thread of his https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...-8-bmw-m3.html

It is so frustrating to have the work of speedybenz right in front of me and i am unable to make use of it. I really wish at least one photo of the velocity stacks would have survived. Or maybe if he had ever posted some of the numbers i could have used that...

he cautioned against it because he said the intake on the m113 engine relies entirely upon the intake being perfectly sealed but opening it up made it prone to leaks which would put it into limp mode. he said if someone can find a way to make it easy to reseal the intake once you've had it apart, it would be a really easy and cheap mod to install. the biggest roadblock is what the hell did those stacks even look like? how did he mount them?

I asked him about it when he listed his car for sale, I can't find the thread. but the only info he had was that he was basically using a 3d printer and it was trial and error until it started acting right.

I met speedybenz before, hes a local here in sacramento.
This was a while back, his car was insane. He ran 285s in the ftont on 17 inch wheels. Had racing brakes and crazy suspension.
Hes an elderly man and seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. If someone gets in touch with him let me know. Ill dig through my old pms, i might have his phone or address.
We met up with him to buy a used rotor coz my friend hit a curb with his c43 pretty bad and broke off the rotor and needed one asap.

Name is correct. And if I recall he used Penske components for his suspension

well linkdin was a total dead end. however i found an address, phone number and email from running a who-is on the now defunct speedybenz.com as well as the numbers and email from club202.com. Lets see how this goes
found a copy of his old site, his custom work looks like stuff I can order from penske so all i need is more info on the velocity stacks

right, stacks are ancient technology, but what he did was get them to work with the ECU and the stock m113 intake. he had them inside his intake apparently, which is why it seems so mysterious. typical intake velocity stacks require individual throttle bodies per cylinder right?

From what ive heard/ seen all he did was find an *unknown length of velocity stack at *unknown rpm that gave ~50 horsepower as well as amazing throttle response throughout 3k rpm to redline. From what speedybenz said he used the bottom half of the intake manifold and velocity stacks replacing the top half? ( I have no idea actually because there are no photos but thats how i read it) Individual throttle bodies would be nice but I have no idea how we would control idle or get all 8 throttle bodies to act as one, but speedybenz didnt have ITB's on his c43 from what ive seen
edit: holycrap, how did he get the throttle body hooked up to all this? Ive got no idea and i really want to see how he did this. I think i found what company he works for but i dont want to call up as i feel that'd be pretty unprofessional so im going to wait a few days before i do so he has a chance to respond to the emails i sent.

Im so happy to have found this ! It looks like the velocity stacks are different lengths maybe? 1&5 are lower than 4&8 . I wonder how he attached the stack to the metal like that

maybe we should start a new thread for this? I would LOVE a visual log and reference if you go down this path, because if you can figure out a way to fabricate these things I would buy a set
I recommend buying any old m113 used intake manifold and opening it up for early experiments, so you don't ruin/disassemble your original AMG manifold. as far as i know they are identical except the AMG one is actually stamped AMG somewhere.
notice that's the top half of his intake manifold, so these stacks would be facing down, which is quite odd, but it's the only way this intake could do it. fwiw, this intake was quite revolutionary when it was new, with much better low end power and efficiency. even my 55 swapped C43 gets 24mpg on the highway.
but back to what this thread was meant for:
heading to my friend's wrecked C43 this weekend to begin scavenging parts off the poor soul. he said I can use whatever I want. I don't need much but i'm going to get what i can. I just wish I could get his entire rear subframe. if I had the money i'd buy the whole car because it's really fixable.
