Car Shutting Down

Any advice would be very appreciated.
Every time now that I go through a car wash my car turns off. It has never done this before until now. One other thing that has come up at the same time as this issue. There is like a CLUNK sound in the rear passenger side rear wheel or center, can't really tell.

This clunk sounds like a suspension problem. Happens when I make a turn left or right going up or down a small ramp or the like. When there are passengers in the back the clunk is not that noticeable as much.

That's about it as far as issues that has happened while my car turns off going through a car wash. It turns off in the middle of the wash. Im able to turn it right back on and go my way. When I try to duplicate this after the wash, I put the car in neutral and the car never turns off. But go through the car wash and have to put in neutral the car will shut off completely down. Very weird.

Thanks for any help.

Yesterday I sprayed water all over the engine including the dual intakes holes and around the maf. Car did not turn off nothing. I took a bottle of water and sprayed right into the inside of the maf and nothing happened. So that is not it, I'm going to wash the car next week testing a few things out and see if anything makes it turn off.

Thanks for the reply. Any other idea feel free to let me know.

I just assumed as efifty5amg that water was getting in the intake, but also found a bimmer thread that had 3-4 different opinions as well. I know it's not your car, but maybe the pressure coming down firewall as one of the answers state could be the culprit? If not ok to copy/paste another thread from a different forum admin please delete and I apologize in advance.

Jorge,

Have you replaced the cps? I'm betting that the moisture is causing cps issues. Try removing the cps and cleaning it.

Yes I've replaced that already. I found the problem. The air box didn't have the rubber seal so when the air dried the car the power of it reached that area and turned the car off.

Thanks for the reply guys really appreciate it.

I have to say that this is amazing and unexpected.
If the seal was missing, the engine must have been sucking a lot of unfiltered air 😱 but I don't understand how that could be the cause of the engine dying...

I know it's weird. I don't have the c43 air box on my car. I have a different setup so it was really plastic to plastic. But I had to use some tape around the pipe so it will seal better. After I did that car won't turn off when I get it in the car wash.
