I have the chance of buyig a c36 year 1997 with 80k miles or a c43 1998 91k miles for the price. which one will be more collectible in the futute.

c36 has the pedigree
c43 is a more modern car, was not a massive hit for AMG taking most engine parts off the shelf
make sure tranny shifts perfect on the c36 1997, this was the first electronic tranny with gremlins.
c43 had problems with trannies on MY1998, sun gear exploded into shrapnel.
both cars have weak trannies, make proper tests before purchase

Benz's are not known for bringing big bucks, so buy what you like, neither will probably ever be a super valuable car. I wish it was different, I'm the 2nd owner of my C43, very original with a little over 100,000 miles. But the other cars in the collection far out pace the C43 in terms of collectability. If you want a car that's on the downslope but will go way up, buy a nice Porsche 996 Turbo, they are cheap, around $30,000 but will climb in the coming years.

tough to say. C36 was the last old school AMG and the first official project between MB and AMG, so it has unique status in history
however, the C43 was the first 'modern' AMG with how things were going to go after MB bought AMG. I do think having both would be advantageous from a collector stand point. they are so damn cheap that you might as well buy both if you are truly worried about collecting

Sorry to disagree, but Daimler Benz took a controlling interest of AMG in 1999 and became the full owner only in 2005

says they signed their first official contract to work together in 1993, and the first car was the C36. the C36 was the last car to leave the MB factory as a complete car (a C280) and then be taken to Affalterbach to be disassembled and modified into a C36. The C43 was the first car to be built as an AMG (instead of modified). They're both pretty special and it's really awesome how the w202 represented the death of old AMG and the birth of new AMG. Honestly if I were a collector with a 10 car garage I'd have both (when you can get really clean examples for $5k each right now, which is insane)

I agree with you. I would get a C36, C43 a C43T (wagon) and a C55 (36 or 37 built).
