Brake cooling ducts

Just came across a very interesting subject and posts on the Facebook C36 / C43 AMG Owners W202 page.

It seems that certain W202 versions like the C280 and C36 (however not sure if it was for all MY) came with brake cooling ducts. Browsing in the EPC, I came across the references for a special cooling duct for the right hand side rubber engine mount on the C36 (photo below). Again I don't know if this engine mount cooling duct was on all C36's or on on some MY.
Here is a photo of the right hand side cooling duct which connects up front on the bumper and has a secondary duct to cool the rubber engine mount.
In any case this could be an interesting upgrade for making cooler brakes on the C43. There is also a video on the FB page but I haven't managed to copy it to post also on here.

Comments????

My son's 1995 C280 had those ducts. None of our post facelift cars, including the C43, have had them.

So it would seem that 95' is the cut off MY for these ducts. I wonder if one can still find them today and if they would fit our C43's. I would be very much interested in getting some

I would say they will need a fair amount of modification to fit. The bumper covers are quite different. Also, I think the fender liners are different enough that that could be an issue also. The C43 isn't here right now. When my son brings it down I'll take a look.

Cool idea but unless you are tracking your C43 I'm not sure it's worth the headache

I ordered "W202 C36" L/R bumper liners & ducts scoops, then ordered "R230" Rotor cooling scoops with cooling pipes,

just joined everything together, with customized some small brackets, for fitment, that's set,,

really simple job..

I agree that this is necessary when tracking the C43, however when driving down a mountain pass at undisclosed speed, you certainly need all ways to cool the brakes, not unless you want to end up with cooked brakes It happens to me...

Never forget that the C43 is pushing over 1500kg, which is a fairly considerable weight

Hi All,
My name is Dmitri, and these are photos of my car.
I founded complete extra set of all these ducts and covers in Russia. Will buy for myself as extra set, but if someone needs them I can send them. The issue might be shipment costs and the point that i never sent abroud before.

I'm traveling and it has been a while, so I can't personally look right now, but don't we have ducts on the C43 as well from behind the fog lights?

I could be wrong; but i think, these brake cooling ducts, only comes with 95-97 "H WA C36", with code "772-625/P99",

it can be fit on any other "W202's",,

but in general; MB didn't provided this system with any other "W202's"..

As I stated in Post #3 our son's US delivery 1995 C280 had those ducts plus the cooling duct for the passenger side motor mount.

The ducts are on both '96 C36's that I own. Including the engine bay duct that Vince referred to. The upper duct ends are fastened the the bumper by three Phillips screws. Two on the passenger side and one on the driver's side.
