SLK55 Brake Upgrade.

Hi Guys.. I am a long time W202 fan and finally got a C43 with 55 swap. My kids love it as much as I do.

I am looking to upgrade my brakes and just wanted to confirm that I have all the correct parts and numbers.

Front Right Caliper - 003 420 68 83
Front Left Caliper - 003 420 67 83
Rear Right Caliper - 003 420 30 83
Rear Left Caliper - 003 420 29 83

Front Right Rotor - 171 421 01 12
Front Left Rotor - 171 421 01 12
Rear Right Rotor - 171 423 02 12
Rear Right Rotor - 171 423 02 12

Front Right Rotor (Brembo 340mm) 09.9254.33
Front Left Rotor (Brembo 340mm) 09.9254.33
Rear Right Rotor (Brembo 330mm) 09.9257.41
Rear Right Rotor (Brembo 330mm) 09.9257.41

Front Brake Pads 004 420 50 20
Rear Brake Pads 004 420 49 20
Front Brake Pads - EBC Ceramics
Rear Brake Pads - EBA Ceramics

Front Brake Sensors 171-540-06-17
Rear Break Sensors 211-540-17-17

Is it normal for the price to fluctuate? When I was putting together my excel sheet it was $3350 and today it was about $3135.

Does the pricing seem about right? This is for all OEM four calipers, rotors and pads.

Should I go with Brembo Front rotors or stick to OEM? Save about $400 with Brembo

Thanks Again.

Jason

A) 05-10 "CLK55/SLK55" brakes:-

*Front (L) Caliper #: "003 420 47 83".
*Front (R) Caliper #: "003 420 48 83".
*Rear (L) Caliper #: "003 420 29 83".
*Rear (R) Caliper #: "003 420 30 83".

*Front (OEM/340) Rotors #: "171 421 01 12".
*Front (Brembo/340) Rotors #: "09.9254.33".
*Rear (OEM/330) Rotors #: "171 423 02 12".
*Rear (Brembo/330) Rotors #: "09.9257.41".

B) 07 "CLK63"brakes:-

*Front (L) Caliper #: "003 420 67 83".
*Front (R) Caliper #: 003 420 68 83".
*Rear (L) Caliper #: "003 420 29 83".
*Rear (R) Caliper #: "003 420 30 83".

*Front (OEM/360) Rotors #: "209 421 01 12".
*Front (Brembo/360) Rotors #: "09.9547.33".
*Rear (OEM/330) Rotors #: "171 423 02 12".
*Rear (Brembo/330) Rotors #: "09.9257.41".

*05-07 "CLK55/CLK63 & 05-10 SLK55" Front Brake Pads #: "004 420 39 20" or "004 420 50 20".
*05-07 "CLK55/CLK63 & 05-10 SLK55" Rear Brake Pads #: "004 420 49 20".

*05-07 "CLK55/CLK63 & 05-10 SLK55" Front pads sensor #: "171 540 06 17".
*05-07 "CLK55/CLK63 & 05-10 SLK55" Rear pads sensor #: "211 540 17 17".

*you will have to get "CLK55/CLK63/SLK55" Front caliper bolts as well, cause C43 using shorter bolts, which is (M12X35),,

while "CLK55/CLK63/SLK55" uses longer bolts (12x45), #: "124 421 04 71"..

Thanks Zayed.

For the front brakes, besides moving the swaybar mount and trimming the shrould... Are there any other modifications?
For the rears is it just trimming the shrould?

Any positives or negatives with the CLK/SLK 55 vs CLK63 setup?

I just want an easy and most straight forward installation as possible.

The only difference between "CLK55/SLK55 & CLK63" in Front Rotors, everything else the same,

of course bigger rotor provides better braking, but not that much,

yeah, need to cut dust shield on Fronts & Rears indeed,,

this is one of greatest & easiest brake upgrade..

did you get all brakes, or not yet..??

I like this upgrade but the need to move and relocate the sway bar mounting brackets is holding me back. Also wondering if and when one needs the extra braking capacity, except if you are tracking the vehicle extensively. Also I would need to know if the 17" Monos fit as I would never be able to get the 43 through the mandatory technical inspection every two years, without getting a very costly engineering analysis confirming the roadworthiness of the upgrade.

Yeah, but will not avoid that much turning, caliper hits the bolt of sway bar bushing,,

can get off the rivet bolt of the bushing bracket, and put flat head bolt with nut..

Yeah Daniel, this solution helps for better turning clearance, but still not gives full turning,,

at least, it's more enough with me..

1998 C43 w/ 55 swap Wavetrac LSD and 6-Speed manual
The brakes on the C43 are pretty substantial from the factory. If unhappy I'd suggest looking at different brake pads - which can make a world of difference. Get PTFE stainless braid brake lines also. Changing to big calipers - unless tracking the car - is likely wasted on 99% of the driving any of us are likely to do. Change for the sake of change doesn't often result in any appreciable improvement. Even w/ my 55 swapped car the car stops in a HURRY when pressed.

C43 stock brakes are great stopping indeed, but the bottom line not with stopping power only,

C43 calipers really looks so boring & ugly, why not give it nice legs..,,

Really deserve it..
