'99 C43 - Front bumper repair.

Hey everyone.
I've owned this car for a couple months now and would like to repair the front bumper.
The previous owner states that the damage occurred when parking, that they basically drove too closely to a parking barrier.

I got under there and it appears there's a large black clip type mounting system, is that correct?
Is that part still available to acquire?

YOu talking about the gap?

Might be a matter of just putting it back correctly.

The inner bumper bracket is a slightly modified version of the c280 bracket and I highly doubt those are still available. You can always get one off of a c280 and trim it in a few places and thats all thats needed.

Simple to remove. Unscrew four nuts on each side of the radiator surround, remove outside temperature sensor, unclip flog lights harness and gently drop to the ground. I would look closely to the mounting brackets to the chassis on the side of the fender

Yeah but it's a major gap, It's currently held in place with 2 zip-ties.
There's a plastic rectangular clip that appears to be broken on the driver side.

Interesting. I'll remove the bumper so I can get a good look at that retainer clip I mentioned.
Thank you.

Rectangular piece is mounted onto a metal L shaped piece on the frame and the bumper slides onto it. Theres one on each side. The inner bumper bracked that slides on is circled below and is a all one piece bracket that runs on the inner side of the bumper(corner to corner)

Yep that's the one.
The 1st image you posted is intact but the 2nd piece that's mounted to the bumper is cracked but still connected. (where the red line is)

So it looks like I'll need to procure that piece.

Yea its very common. I had to tie mine up with wire ina few spots. I think its easier than sorting out a whole bracket.

Definitely. It doesnt need much because its a big bracket and can support the weight so a small crack here and there can be fixed easy
