Seriously? Folks want their MB to sound like a riced up Subaru?
I have to admit I've been infatuated with the sound of a Subaru boxer for a long time. I lost a GLi during Superstorm Sandy (so much more than just a hurricane), that I was going to replace with a WRX wagon. I planned to lift it a couple inches, add mud flaps and abuse the **** out of it. VW ended up cutting me a great deal that I had to go with, and the used WRX market is crazy. You either buy a car from a grampa enthusiast and overpay, or get into a car that was F&F clutch dumped from every red light.
But I digress... The deep burble that come from that car is fantastic. Is the BOV sound obnoxious? No more so than the machine gun fire that the fine folks at MB blessed us with (controlled backfire lol). We are living in the golden age of loud obnoxious cars. Aston did it first, with the V8 Vantage, then Jaguar followed suit with the F Type (what a sweet revving v6), and even the Corvette has a dual mode exhaust. Maserati has commercials with no speaking, just engine revs!

I thought i read that a BOV system is bad for ours cars as the air is not recirculating which can actually cause a loss in hp hence why Renntech created those adapters that give the bov sound but the air is still recirculating which means no loss in hp. E63AMGJOE care to chime in on this? Much appreciated.

Saw this the other day. Don't know the last time I was reminded of Capt. Planet and somehow he's referenced twice in one week for me? The universe is weird
I actually really enjoy the sound of a blow off valve. Specially when it's accompanied by giant single turbo. I also enjoy an externally vented waste gate. However I wouldn't put one on a Mercedes.

Had a loud BOV and a dumped external wastegate on my 1.8t A4
It was a hell of a lot of fun .......when I was 20. No way in hell I'd run that type of setup now that I'm 30. But to each their own I suppose
What I am getting here is: if a 20 year old "boy" wants to have it, that can't be right .
Sorry guys, but I can't agree with that. Why did you buy an AMG? Because you can afford it now? If you could afford an Impreza WRX STI, or a regular C300, what would you buy? The C300, just because it's not a "boy" car?
I'm not 20, and I believe some's reasoning for not having a BOV is just wrong.
