its very possible the dealer you are working with is "assuming" its the Dinantronics Elite type version, which if they looked on the Dinan website is about a 2 hr install. That said, do it yourself!, it is pretty easy!.. 5-10 mins!

I'm pretty sure they're calling it 2 hrs because of the pre and post installation "testing" to ensure all systems are good. Given the many people on here that have installed it themselves and I haven't heard of any CEL, etc resulting, it doesn't seem that dealer testing is necessary.

Was really only considering letting them do it so I wouldn't have to mess with uninstalling prior to dealer visits. I had a throttle response controller on my BMW that at first I would remove prior to dealer services. Then I got lazy and just left it installed and they never said anything. I know this kind of stuff completely varies by dealer. Given that my dealer sells and installs this unit, maybe I'll end up leaving it on.

Are you guys uninstalling prior to dealer visits? The dealer's install price is truly outrageous, but I am trying to evaluate in conjunction with multiple future uninstalls/reinstalls before/after going to the dealer.

Don't bother: it is merely a mild pressure boost and Mercedes can't disaffirm the warranty without showing a causal connection with damage.

Anybody working with a dealer so dumb that they don't understand a causal connection is necessary, or they just want to rat somebody out (everybody hates rats), should find another dealer.

You really need to move on about this. You brought it upon yourself, and nobody cares.

So put on your big boy pants, and stop being such a cry baby.

Why are you in this section? Do you own a C450 or C43?

What? I think your hair trigger is causing you issues with guilty knowledge, but hey, fire away.

I have the Dinan device, and the same engine.

If a dealer is ratting people out, they should find another dealer. It is quite simple.

If a dealer will rat you out to MB, they aren't on your side and likely will mislead you in other ways, too.

Nobody likes rats.

Special Note: DINANTRONICS Sport is set to the "Sport +" setting out of the box. This can be adjusted via the bluetooth app.

Compatible with: 2015-17 C400, 2015-17 C450 AMG, 2016-17 AMG C43, 2015-17 CLS400, 2015-17 E400, 2015-16 GL450, 2015 ML400, 2015-17 S550e, 2015-16 SL400, 2015-16 GLE400, 2016 GLE450 AMG, 2016-17 AMG E43, 2017 SL450, 2016-17 AMG SLC43, 2017 GLS450, 2016-17 AMG GLE43, 2016-17 GLE550e, 2016-17 AMG GLC43

Christ - this whole time and he doesn't even have a C450/43?! I didn't put much stock in his feedback to begin with, but all his opinions in this thread should be removed TBH. Lower HP rated engine to start and a half-ton weight difference...of course he's going to feel different results. SMH

Funny, the laws of physics are immutable, though I am no religious scholar. Energy is relevant only to the body to which it is applied, not a third body, and is in direct proportion to the force applied. Sum: whether the body weighs 5 tons or one ton, a proportionate force has the same effect on a specific body.

Ironically, the claim appears to be that the c400/cls400 engine gets a proportionately greater increase in horsepower and torque than the c450/c43, hence, LACKING any empirical data, one would posit a greater subjective effect.

Plainly put, the only rational comparison is the cls400 to itself, with and without, not a c450/c43.

Does Dinan really pay up for denied repairs with their elite series?

I'd be interested to hear from anybody who has had a big warranty claim with a Dinan box on their car. There seems to be room for the consumer to get in trouble here. Mercedes is going to say any warranty work has to be done by the dealer, and there's a good chance that the second the dealer sees a tune box it will say that any engine/transmission problems were caused by the tune. And the Dinan warranty says you have to bring the car to a Dinan shop, and they have to determine that the problem was caused by the tune.

Seems to me there is too much room in the middle for both parties to deny responsibility for an issue.

My Dinan sport failed last week.

The tuner body has separated from the wiring harness. This caused a CEL due to an open circuit for the boost P sensor. It was easily cleared with my code reader and did not return once the unit was removed.

I'll try to post some pics of the tuner tomorrow.

Got an email in with Golan. I'm not sure if I'll be swapping this back to Autotalent or to Dinan directly. I'll update on how it all works out.
