AMG Performance Exhaust VS AWE Tuning Touring Exhaust
Hey all, just picked up my C43 Coupe last night. Has every option that I wanted but the AMG Exhaust. Really wanted it, but didn't want to order a car and wait. Service Advisor says it is impossible to add after the fact.
I really fell in love with the Performance Exhaust. It sounds perfect. I can't really judge the AWE Tuning from a simple youtube clip. I was wondering if anyone heard the two in real life? Are there any similarities, less/more crackles and pops? Drone?
Thank you!

cant speak for the c43 version but i had the amg perf exhaust from factory and upgraded that to the AWE version. i am very happy with the sound. its much deeper and no drone.. I dont think you will regret getting it, it still puts a smile on my face each time I open the valves

According to the admins over on the AMG PL, AMG PE can be added to a C43/C43coupe it cannot be added to a C450. I'm sure that retrofitting the factory AMG PE will cost a small fortune.

Always wanted the AWE Touring exhaust when I had both a B8 and B8.5 S4, as stock sound was basically non-existent other than the gear farts.
However this AMG Performance Exhaust on my C43 has me quite content. It sounds great. Don't think I foresee needing to upgrade to the Touring (unless someone wants to go to the Track version, maybe?)
Given that OP doesn't have either may just work out better (price wise) to go straight to the AWE though.

I called four dealerships and they all said it was impossible due to the wiring harness. Really itching to get an exhaust on my c43, don't know when AWE is going to release it though :/. Anyone have any alternatives?

Personally, I would go aftermarket. If I was hell bent on getting the PE, I would set up appointment with the Service Manager and I would fwd him the correspondence from AMG for him to review beforehand. From there, it just becomes a conversation about availability and cost.

In addition to the cost factor, AWE CS is head and shoulders above MB should you have an issue. Loyal to that company for life when possible. Nothing but the best things to say about AWE products and as a company.

Do you have a link to the post by any chance? I can't seem to find it.
The AMG PL info comes straight from AMG. The dealerships are usually not the most knowledgeable when it comes to retrofitting anything.

Hey Ron, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. That was a post from March.
Switchable option is nice, but AWE makes a fantastic product for the price point. I went with the Track which I wouldn't recommend for anyone who does daily highway driving. I love it because it is as obnoxious as I am. From all reports, their Touring system sounds better than the AMGPerformance option anyway.
If you are hell bent on a switchable system there are Armytrix, GTHaus, Brabus, and Capristo. They are all expensive (and sorted by price). With that said, you can probably could t on at least 3 of them being cheaper than making the OEM AMG pipes work.
If you can find a salvage car being parted out, and you have a shop well versed in taking apart the console on a perfectly good new car, you might be able to make it happen. Or you might do all the work only to find your car's ECU wasn't programmed to be able to make the switch control it.

When I looked at my car's PE valve-controls, the wires looked more like simple DC/power connetions as opposed to signal-bus connections. If it is the case that the valves are controlled simply via the presence of DC/power or not, then you could at least install the PE "tubing etc." and use a simple switch (maybe somewhat hidden) to control the PE valve operation. It wouldn't be as well integrated with the car's systems, but would still be usable. Or, better yet, asking Mr. Google about "bluetooth 12v power switch" yields various bluetooth-controllable power-switching devices for cars. Using such a device would be easy to wire using the DC/power from the trunk-located accessory/switched-power fuse and running the PE valve control-wires from there.
