C43AMG Coupe Custom rear diffuser and real exhaust tips

I never liked the look of the fake exhaust tips that our cars come with and wanted something more aggressive. After about three weeks of work, plastic welding and bondo (non of which I ever did before), primer and paint and a set of universal 102mm exhaust tips= this! Hope you all enjoy. I still need to bring in the tips a bit on the one side but here's the final test fitment before some tweaks.

tips should be staggered and the cut outs are really messy.

That is pretty ballsy! Nice effort. With a little tweeking I think you'll have great finished product. Maybe go with a tip that's a few mils smaller and fill the surround with mesh.

Hate to say it, but those tips look horrible, and the diffuser cuts around the tips looks amateur at best.

IMO the tips are too big, stick out too far, and just don't look right on a Mercedes...maybe a Mustang, but not a Mercedes.

Rough crowd in here. I agree that staggered tips would be best, but this is all I could find in a 2.5" in and 4" out quad exhaust tip. I may have these welded to make them staggered as that will tuck the outer pipes in a bit. I tried another staggered brand but the finish was awful. I also spent a lot of time plastic welding and blending the diffuser. It does look "off" because the original diffuser was designed for an oval shaped exhaust insert and I added two round pipes. Maybe I'll rework the diffuser design. Here's more pics of all that went into the diffuser blend

I like the idea and the guts. I also appreciate the effort. It probably looks better in person, because your pics are all so close .. but yeah those tips are too big.

If you're looking for a more aggressive look, I would've tossed some spacers on the car, especially in the rear. The stock stance is a softer / weaker look than the exhaust. I'm looking for spacers now...

Agreed. I will do spacers on my next wheel/tire setup but for now I'll run these until they wear out.

3WD brabus exhaust tips and rear diffuser modification

A few more pics from farther away. I am considering having the tips welded to be staggered and also considering cutting the bottom of the diffuser around the tips vs the current setup of having the tips surrounded. This would be similar to what 3WD did to add the rabid exhaust to their Coupe. I thought not having to cut the silver insert looked more clean but maybe not?

I think your second revision plans sound good. I think that would greatly improve the look.

I respect that you want to do this yourself but your first set of cuts weren't that clean. Are you sure you want to cut further? Might be worth taking to a shop to have them clean up the existing work and then reassess.

I actually think the best look is without the diffuser because it's more open, maybe I can mock something up to mimics this contour but fill the space

The cuts were clean and measures spot on. The reason they don't look perfect in the picture is because I put silver heat tape around them and on inside of difusor to protect from the Exhaust and you can see parts of it popping up in the pictures which makes the lines look off.

I laud the effort here. I think if Mercedes offered optional tip packages and an aggressive rear end, people would flock to it. The lightbulb wasn't perfect on the first try, but hey.

I decided to take another go at the rear difuser. This time I removed the bottom portion of the difuser, and cut more of the difuser out and molded it smooth by plastic welding. I also had the exhaust tips cut and welded to be staggered. For the exhaust cutouts I used door trim to thicken the edges and give it some depth. Finally I repainted it with a textured finish. I think it looks really good now. I added the red pinstripe as an accent but may remove it- on the fence. I hope the feedback is more positive for this 2nd revision.
