MB Pre Payed Maintenance Worth It?

Hi again,

Simple question here, is the MB pre payed maintenance worth the up front money or are they selling you maintenance you don't need?

I understand that this is different than the warranty that automatically covers the car. If anyone can help provide info on the differences, that would be appreciated.

The prepaid maintenance price can be negotiated down. With that in mind and your skills at getting this down, it may work out better for you. That is if you take your motor to the dealership for all maintenance. If you have a good independent that's cheaper, that'll work out cheaper in the end. At the end of the day, you've got to do the sums yourself as well as the CBA, taking into account all risk factors and how you'll overcome them.

And if you're leasing, don't get the tge last year. You're most likely trading it in by then... just like the registration...

Pre-paid maintenance is always a must for me. I literally pay 10 bucks a month (included in my monthly payments). And as mo11 said do not get the last year because you will most likely trade in by then (if you are leasing)

Prepaid maintenance is almost always worth it, it will cost you close to 50% more to do the service intervals at the dealer otherwise.

If you're going to DIY or take to an independent shop, that changes.

I think it is worth it. I'm taking delivery of my new C43 tonight. 3 year maintenance price is $1900, prepaid is $1152, so saved about 40%. I didn't even try to negotiate off this price...maybe I should have. I beat the hell out of these guys on the sale price of the car and got over 13% off MSRP so I was done. Maybe I could have saved another $100 but I was tired of negoatiating at this point.

This is a great point! I actually didn't even think about year 3. I just messaged my sales rep and told him I don't want to take 3 year maintenance, quote me for 2. Makes no sense to pay for the 3rd maintenance interval, I probably won't even have the car for the full 36 months with early lease return options for another Merc if I get one.

Slightly off topic but in the same general category......For my 2017 C43 coupe, I recently bought a 7 year , 100,000 mile MB extended warranty for $3K.....I think this is money well spent even though I paid in advance.
If I sell the car before the basic warranty expires, I get the $3K back!

You may want to look at the threads for extended warranties. If I remember correctly, you spent almost $1000 too much as I did when I bought the car. You can get a refund on this and buy it at a much cheaper price through some of the online dealers.

pre-paid maintenance can be negotiated a BIT but not really much.. warranties, yeah one can easily get 50% or more off the retail quoted price, but getting a 3yr maintenance down more than about 10-15% if that is like finding a unicorn. It's a determinate cost and value (also a rising one) and dealers and MB are not prone to discount it much if at all.
