Hmm....At times the front are spinning (obviously they are never going to behave like the rear that gets twice the duty) pretty good but, it seems like a lot of the time they weren't doing much at all. Weird. Maybe this is the part of 'Traction Control' that says active even when you disable it with the button on the center console? Because I've heard that even when you turn it off, it's still not completely off.

Also, I notice that they seemed to spin mostly when the wheels were pointed forward and they were just kinda along for the ride the more they were turned. Am I seeing that right? In my head that seems like it would make sense as it would help the front hold traction and the back end can spin out and oversteer you to the right angle where you straiten out the wheel and then all 4 wheels engage and you're gone!

I wanna do some "field research" on this but we haven't had any snow in Utah for a few weeks

Sounds pretty beastly too. I'm thinking he's got BOV spacers bc all I hear are the turbos.
I haven't figured out how to fully disable the nannies on my c450. I just can't seem to get it raucous enough in the snow. I tried it a few times, then called it a day and jumped in the Jeep.

The C450 doesn't go completely off. "Off" is really sport mode. MB advertised that the C43 has a 3rd mode of truly "off". Not sure if truly off is actually all off, but that is how id is advertised.

So C450 has 2 modes regular and off (off is equivalent to sport mode on the C43) and the C43 has 3 modes, regular, sport mode, and off.

I would say the video is more a product of close quarters and low driver experience on how to properly modulate throttle in the snow for controlled slides. I can attest that when you press and hold the TC until it says off, it is OFF in the snow. I spent a 1/4 tank of fuel two weeks ago in a barrier/obstacle free mall parking lot sliding to my hearts content without any electronic nanny's slapping my wrist. I'll post something the next time we get enough snow on the ground here in Omaha.

Just realize that dyno mode will turn off more than ESP. Not sure about the W205, but most MBs dyno mode also ditches the ABS, at least some of the power steering and the pre-crash safety items. Probably perfect if you want to go sliding in a snowy parking lot.

Less perfect if you are just looking for less aggressive intervention on a back country road.

Maybe you can't turn it completely off on the C450? On my C43 you can put the ESP in Sport-mode by pressing the ESP-button and completely off by holding it for a few seconds. It's definitely off when I do that and I have much fun in the snow here in Norway. A member of the local Mercedes Club said you could turn it completely off when in Sport+ mode, but not in Comfort mode. I haven't tried it yet as I don't find it naturally playing around in Comfort mode..

I was able to do some nice donuts by putting it in sport + and sport handling mode. I notice in sport handling mode the *** end will come around (fishtail) if i accelerate too quickly driving down a snowy road. Makes it feel like a rwd.

Absolutely, it definitely feels like a rwd, just a little more "stabile". The *** comes out in the start when heavy on the throttle straight forward as well. Quite different than my 2016 C250d 4Matic.

I wasn't talking about how the driver's donut cutting technique looked. I'm talking about how the front wheels seemed to change input throughout the video. If you notice the rear wheels were always spinning at a high rate but the front varied from spinning at the same rate of the rears to, what seemed to be, not having any power input at all. Make sense?

The same reason those dudes "driving" in Times Square left lame 1 legger burnouts.
(video should start playing from 1:13, I am certain I am doing this correctly)
At least our cars don't offer the option. Their c63 had LSD as a factory offering.

But regardless of the fabulous Marissa Tomei... You're saying that the reason the front wheels varied input was due to posi-traction in the rear differential? Hmmm.... You're gonna have to educate me on that one, pal.

There isn't a limited slip diff on our cars and no center diff torque vectoring. The car is set to do 30/70 front to rear torque split and as per MBUSA "AMG Performance 4MATIC enhances grip and acceleration while preserving agility and driving fun". Instead of having a smart differential, the car uses computer trickery to tap the brakes on an individual wheel to get you out of trouble. No real LSD = limited fun.
