ROFLMAO @ placebo drug. But I’m with you, how in tarnation can it be louder and deeper soon nd if it does same thing as the button inside? Cool that it stays open from start to start but louder? What laws of physics are being altered by the module?

I cant for the life of me figure out why this has been such a hot topic considering how minor this modification is.

I was one of the first people to purchase this module after seeing it on youtube.

The reason I purchased this module was because STOCK the car does NOT open the valves all the way.

The valves open PARTIALLY under certain speed and throttle position.

SO with module the valves are 100% all the time, so the exhaust is LOUDER and more AGGRESSIVE all the time now.

so it looks like that extra black wire doesnt hook up to anything?

So to clarify, if I'm driving in sports + and I already have the performance exhaust option will this thing give me anymore sound than what I get already?

I have been curious about the ASR exhaust flap module for a bit so decided to buy it and see what it does. Note that my car is tuned by Amr so I imagine the exhaust is outputting significantly more air than stock. Just installed the module today, takes about 5 minutes.
Startup - Definitely louder and deeper, also revving the car sounds muuuch louder.
Quick pull away (not full throttle) - The low rpms are significantly louder and the up shift bang will scare the neighbors.
Full bore - here I didn't notice too much of a difference except maybe the up shifts are louder.

Overall loving the product on day 1. I'd say the low rpms sound is much louder and deeper but can become a drone while highway cruising. However when it gets annoying you can just hit the remote and the flaps will behave like stock.

on a side note, can anyone tell me if this is the standard or AMG performance exhaust?
Because according to the comment from the uploader it's standard. But AMG PE is standard on Coupes in certain areas, I think.

if it doesn’t have a button inside for the exhaust valve it’s not the Performance exhaust

That video isn't mine. I don't know how you expect me to know that.

Anyway, based on this video this sounds like regular exhaust and the above is PE.

The second video could also be performance exhaust with the valves closed right?

Sport+ automatically puts the exhaust on. I guess they could have manually pressed it off but I doubt it.

Sorry, I am probably a bit too late to the discussion but I don't understand all the fuss about this product. Does it actually change the characteristics of the exhaust and make it louder? or does it just keep the flaps open across all drive modes so that we can hear it all the time? I always keep the flaps open by pressing the exhaust button. It has become a habit for me to press that button as soon as I start my car. I drive in comfort with the flaps open. Does it module do anything different apart from keeping the flaps open as you switch between the modes? To me you still have to press a button on the remote to open the flaps. How is it any different from pressing the exhaust button in the car? Just bewildered at this moment.

Even with the module you still want to press the exhaust button as that changes the characteristics and introduces the pops and bangs, so it doesn't really save you from doing that.

I personally bought it for louder cold starts and nothing more... I'm still not convinced it sounds any different driving in Sport + with and without the module.

The flaps for the exhaust don't open all the way on a stock car unless above 4000rpm at full throttle (from what I understand). This product opens the flaps all the way all the time so in general the car is much louder. This product for me was a way to get more noise without installing catless downpipes.

Interesting. Now that makes sense. I always thought the car needed to catch some speed to really sound like an AMG. Something to ponder upon then.

This is incorrect. The mufflers on non-PE optioned cars are different than the PE setup (no servo modules or flaps to operate). PE optioned cars also have a slightly different tune tweaked for the flaps for extra overrun & pew pew noise.

He means cars with PE does not open the butterfly valves in the exhaust fully. If you look at the exhaust from the rear in Sports+ with exhaust open, you will see that the valves are partially open. Ask a friend to rev the car, you will see the valve angle changes with RPM. Meaning PE valves are not fully open all the time. It is only fully open during the beginning of cold starts and during high rpm driving in sports +. What the module does is keep the valves fully open all the time.

Sorry - read the conversation as him saying all had the flaps, not just PE. Feel free to ignore.

Will this make any difference on a C450 w/o PE?

Hi. I hope it is not too for me to join this discussion. I recently retrofitted the PE exhaust by purchasing from Germany. The problem now I face is that the flaps cannot be closed because they have no connection with the central console, notwithstanding it is what I want to make the retrofitted works simple. Sometimes I found it is too loud when I need a quiet cruising after work. Does this ASR component solve my problem?
