BMS JB4 Interest Poll

Well most of the guys here like to work on their own cars, that's why we share information back and forth about boost tables, fuel, etc. If you go to a shop they will probably charge you an hour labor, so expect to spend $120 - $160 for installation.
If you do want to attempt it yourself: go to burgers website, click Mercedes at the top, click "2015+ C class...", click "Download JB4 install guide" for step by step instructions minus the OBD2 port (that was posted earlier in this thread). Otherwise google "euro tuner" on google maps and I'm sure you have someone local that can do the job.

1. Cut an X in the firewall grommet before you remove it.
2. Take wire coat hanger and straighten with pliers leaving a small bend at one end to grip.
3. push the coat hanger though the X into the cabin. You should see it pop out through the large rubber area near break pedal. Leave the hanger there.
4. Cut an X around the hanger you just pushed through. It should be large enough for the small end of OBD plung to fit through.
5. Tape the small plug and at least 2-3 inches of the cable onto the hanger and pull through from the engine bay. Toull get some resistance from the insulation wool but you should be able to get it through. The firewall grommet will pop out when you do this. Just push it back in once you have enough cable to plung into JB4. It have mine mounted near break booster.
Hope this helps. I can send pictures of my install if you need additional help.

Nice, cars are much more complex now than they were in the 70s. My last post came across as helpful and answered your original question about where you could find an installer. If you're trying to prove that you're older, that point has been made loud and clear.

Just wondering and thanks for any ideas

Need map info put ready to go!
I ran the wire through the firewall just as the Detrick instructed... thanks to the great instructions it was easy. I observed a speaker below the rubber area and break pedal that is almost completly covered with carpet. Why is the speaker covered with flooring material and should I cut the carpet out around the speaker?
Just wondering and thanks for any ideas

Please I really want to try this out!
Yesterday I tested four runs to 60 in Sport + 4.76 4.53 4.70 and 4.70. The two 4.70 came on a bridge one heading east and one heading west so I feel sure there is no incline.
Just don't have any place near me to try the 1/4 mile.
As to my quoted text... I did cut out around the speaker and ordered a grill to go over it. Still don't know what it is for, its about 7 inches round.
Thanks again

JB4 tuner on map 1
All set up and almost ready to go. Installed the JB4tuner and JB4 wireless module. It took about an hour. I'm slow and old. Jumped in the car started it up and no bricked ECU or error codes. Started the JB4 bluetooth app on my android phone and set it up with engine N55 Bluetooth REV3. The tuner came set to Map 0 I think that is stock. What code should I use first??? Or point me in direction of what each code does.
Please I really want to try this out!

Is this a good, poor or average improvement?

Your stock and map 1 times are fairly bad but this all depends on your density altitute (DA) where you are. Can you give us more information - fuel, ambient temperature, intake air temperature, da and how you're launching the car?

High test fuel 93 octane
Temp is about 80 degrees
Holding break to about 2K RPM and then letting go
I feel a real lag (dead time) from when I let go of the break and the car starts to really pull. I think this is why I'm not getting good times.
I know I don't know what i'm doing so any hints will help.
Thanks

Did you make sure the car adjusted to the new map? What's your peak boost? I assume at 80 degrees your density altitude was much higher (2000+ ft). Use your boost gauge between the speedo and rpm tach to determine launching and try launching around 1/2 to 3/4 boost.
Logs would help as well

I just looked up the DA for Virginia Motorsports Park and it was between 2600FT and 3000FT. I'm sure you can improve your launch but the times aren't going to be record-breaking in those temps.

How long does it take?
Did not think about traction control
Next time I will hold traction control button for about 5-10 seconds to remove traction control
I will get the boost showing in dash and pay attention to launch between ½ and ¾
I will look up Virginia Motorsports Park and see if it's close enough for me to visit.
Thanks for all the info...

The stock 255 tires are way too small for this much power and traction control takes over on an aggressive launch- also there is some turbo lag, try pressing the gas pedal consistently in a smooth quick motion, rather than slamming it to the floor right away- them turbos need to be spooled up to make power.
The 6.5" speaker that you found is a Bass speaker and it is ok for it to be covered, bass is non directional and carpet will not stifle it, You will also find one on the passengers side firewall.

Is this the the c43 only? I hit the TC button on my c450 today and I immediately get the light on the dash. I even tried holding it down for a few seconds and nothing else happened.
