Tires for 2017 C43 19"
My 9k mile OEM Run-Flat continentals are among the worst tires I have ever owned and the front ones will only last for another 3k miles and ride as if they have 40k miles. I have the 19" rims 225/40 and 255/35 - I was considering the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s (run flat) and Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (non run flat but better in cold mornings). MB drivers seem to have had good success with the 4s but I am not seeing positive words from MB drivers for the 3+. Is it the asymmetric pattern of the 3+ a problem? Ideally I wanted an all weather tire so was leaning towards the A/S 3+.. Are there strong recommendations for the C class AMG? Please don't reply if you have less than 5k miles on tires.

Tires are tires, they don't really follow car models unless you are super picky about an arbitrary "tread pattern."
Asymmetrical problems aren't a problem at all until you want to do rotations.
However, with the added bonus of a NON run-flat, I would definitely get the all-season. They are good tires.

Well I'm gonna respond because my BMW came with RFT and they sucked and I got rid of them ASAP. My C43 has less than 200 miles and if anyone wants to trade or buy them I'll be happy to get rid of the run RFT. All the top non RFT are pretty good, but the PS4 non-RFT is about the best, but no way would I replace them with RFT.

Because the car has a staggered setup the mileage warranty for the tires is cut in half.

Been running MP AS3+ on mine and have been very happy with them. Summer performance is as good or better than the stock Contis and they provide great traction in cold and wet conditions including light snow and ice. They are wearing much better than the Contis. I have been swapping them, running the Contis from May-Oct and running the AS3+ the rest of the year.
One thing I really prefer about the AS3+ over the Contis is that with the AS3+ you can feel when you're approaching the limit of grip for the tires. Whereas, with the Contis you feel as though you have plenty of grip right up to the point that you don't.

Mr. J - This was exactly what I was looking for and really appreciate your insight. I was concerned that the 3+ could be too rough or too loud on concrete (according to reviews). How many miles do you have on the AS3+? For the respondents who suggest the PS4 - do you have experience with the AS3+ and know that there is a concern or 2?

I've had the AS3+ for about 18 months and they've been mounted for about 13 of 18. Not sure about mileage probably, 6-8k.
They aren't noisy for a performance tire. I would not put them on a luxo barge like an S class or a Lincoln since neither need performance tires and there are quieter touring tires available. I find the AS3+ to generate about the same amount of road noise as the stock conti runflats. The AS3+ provide a slightly less harsh ride but this was not a dramatic difference from the stock tires.
I have one of these in the trunk in case of punctures.

This kit costs more than the cheapos but the compressor is very high quality and can air up a tire in a fraction of the time it takes for most of these. It also has an adapter to use either std 12v vehicle socket or alligator clips to attached direct to the 12v battery and ground.
If you choose the MPSS you may need to consider winter driving conditions. The MPSS are not suitable for any snow and ice and will lose traction and wear prematurely if you run them in sub freezing temps. Obviously this is only an issue if the car is a DD in the winter and you live someplace that actually has winter weather. But if you do, then you'll need another set of Winter tires for the cold months.
I'm in Western Oregon. The winters are fairly mild here with temps rarely getting below 20F and snowfall usually less than 2 weeks a year and rarely accumulating over 4". The AS3+ run fine in these conditions, the MPSS will not. If I lived in an area with harsher winter weather I'd go with dedicated Winter and Summer tires (most likely Blizzak and MPSS).

I have conti pro cont gx ssr and have had no complaints with them. They are run flats so what people say about tires is likely to hold here but I am not a tire snob so I don’t notice. I drove them all seasons through winter and never had an issue.
I will be trying the AS3+ next as my non run flat option as I have heard nothing but rave reviews about those tires both on the forums here and elsewhere (and I’m going to guess tire rack reviews are pretty accurate).
Personally, I drove a 98 Civic for years through harsh winters and I never once had an issue taking it skiing, never put any special tires on it. What I am saying is, with all of these tires folks are mentioning they are all good, but the best pair of tires isn’t going to stop a bad diver.

AS 3+ miles
For SEANHFX - How many miles are on your AS3+ - I am a spirited driver and suspect the tires are good for that too. I just am trying to get a sense of wear versus the MPS4S (Pilot Sport 4S).
With the 4 WD and cold mornings I am a bit reticent to go with the 4S if the AS3+ last longer (which they are rated for) and handle nearly as well which they seem to do. Again the asymetric tread should be fine with a mismatched tire size but the complaints of extra road noise on concrete concerned me a bit (that was expressed by some owners).

14,000 kms or almost 9,000 miles, no real wear 9/32nds. I'm spirited driver as well and the only reason I got these over the Supersports/4s's is because of colder weather. If you have weather near freezing and don't have winter tires, then the 3+ is the way to go. My Audi A4 had the A/S 3's with 25k kms on them and still had 7 or 8/32nds left but not staggered, car was daily driver with spirited city driving.
"With the 4 WD and cold mornings I am a bit reticent to go with the 4S" - This is what swayed my decision over the 4's. The A/S 3/3+ will last longer than the supersports/4s

My question is about changing from rft to standard radials. I am looking to get a more comfortable and less noisy ride with a long tread life. Any recommendations? My 2017 C43 has 15k miles on it and it is time to replace my tires already.

2017 c43 here as well that I just bought with Eagle 1 asymmetric 3 runflats.....ride is so harsh! thinking about replacing them with some Conti DWS ....had those on my previous Audi S5 and was happy.

I swapped in AS3+'s on my fronts once the Conti RFT's were toast after 14k miles. No road noise issues, good grip in wet and performance conditions. Rears are lasting way longer (24k miles now)...will be replacing at 30k with AS3+'s on the rear as well. If you're in a climate with a snow, these are a capable AS tire. No snow, no question...get the PS4's.
Another note because it's incorrectly stated at the start of this thread....Asymmetrical tires CAN be rotated side to side, directional tires cannot.

If anyone is looking for a set of OEM tires for the 19" wheels, let me know. I'm switching them out for AS since I'm in Chicago and cold and snow are inevitable.

I go to a pretty good alignment shop. Unfortunately, the C43’s camber cannot be adjusted. The front camber bushing doesn’t have a nipple inside, which prevents you from replacing it with adjaustable camber bolts. The rears are the same.... actually, you can by drilling the hole of the rear lower comtrol arm to pull it in. But, you can only pull it in so much before the toe goes out of spec. Bad toe will eat the tires faster than bad camber. So, unless you get a camber kit like k-mac at $400+/set, front and another set for the rears, your cambers are set.... worse if you drop the car.
