Single or dual exhaust?
I currently have the standard amg exhaust. Anyone know what the stock piping diameter measurements are?
Thanks.
and when you mean you are getting it custom, are you talking your own modeling, metal, machining, welding, etc.? That sounds immense.
As far as dimensioning, maybe someone knows how to find drawings but I would hope you wouldn’t need to get up in there with a caliper and a micrometer.

Honestly i don't think its too complicated, and saves you a few thousands opposed to armytryx, brabus, and capristo lol
And then you gotta hope that puppy stays nice and tight, no problematic corrosion, using high quality fasteners and other parts, etc.
maybe be you know all this so i am in no way trying to offend your knowledge, just making sure you know what may be going on behind those high prices and what risk you may be adding. I am always for gettin down and dirty with customs though.

I am an exhaust nut I've build 5 or 6 full exhaust setups on previous cars, so I figured I would throw my $ 0.02 in...
Exhaust sound is personal preference. Dual 2.5" piping in y-pipe, x-pipe, or h-pipe will all sound somewhat similar with the stock mufflers. The turbos naturally muffle the finer exhaust notes out anyway. Running an h-pipe with true duals might be a little louder, but I wouldn't expect much change in exhaust volume bc your y pipe is larger diameter to make up for a single pipe vs dual. Be aware that running straight pipes w/o a muffler or at least a good one will result in considerable drone at low rpm.
On performance, you aren't going to gain much more than a few horsepower running larger piping. Unless a big turbo kit comes out for these cars, the stock exhaust pipe diameter is fine. You would probably lose 30-40 lbs of weight with new piping though. If you are looking for actual performance gains, just get downpipes catted or catless will make a difference in turbo noise, spool time, etc. If it still isn't loud enough, remove the resonator.
Tons of high horsepower GTRs run y-pipes btw, so don't thing that a single pipe will kill your horsepower. Here is a good video on sound difference between h-pipe and x-pipe, I am partial to x-pipes.

Someone has a c400 with a c63s exhaust and i think it sounds great. It'll be pretty difficult to get a c63s exhaust though lol
